Thanks those who replied re my nagging cough on ramapril. I think I Iwill have to change to alternative as its getting so I have it in the day time as well and can be distracting for those who are with me when I go into a red faced, episode. Pat

I had the same - hugely irritating for everyone. Switched to Losartan and it has gone.

I too changed to Losartan, lost the cough and had no problems. I was taking Lisinopril which is a little cheaper than Losartan. They try you on a cheap one and it's well worth drawing your GP's attention to your plight.

Hi Ruskin 10, I had to reply to this post as 6 years ago my husband was percribed Ramapril for his blood pressure back up. he developed a cough and was really getting on my nerves. We had just got back from hospital and I told him to go to doctors or no more holidays. Anyway I am not scare mongering, but going to the dr because of the cough saved his life for two more years than what he would have had. Dr sent him for xray and he was diaganosed with lung cancer. Because of ramapril causing a cough he would not have gone to dr. so I know that this drug causes coughing. Sorry I dont mean to scare

are you that is not my intention, but just to say that yes you will have a cough with this drug.

I had a cough with Ramipril and had to try 4 other meds before one suited me, they all thought I was a nuisance but I persevered and have now been on Ibersartan which suits me fine so don't give up.

I also had to stop ramiptil because of a constant cough. Other drugs available that don't created a cough.
