My device has stopped recording but all other features work. When I place my fingers on the pads it looks as if it is going to work but doesn't record. I have had the device about 2 years. I have reported it but no advice from them has helped
Has anyone any ideas please

I had that problem with my Alivecor and when I emailed customer services they told me to check the battery. I didn't even know there was one until then! Turns out there is a watch-type battery in the case and replacing that solved my problem.
Poor communication from Alivecor not to give users a heads up!
Yep, several people have been caught out with this one and if it hadn't been for other people posting I would have thought the same, that it had stopped working - change the battery and it worked perfectly again.
maybe battery just needs reseated had the same as you took it to Timpsons and checked battery was fine , put it back in then it worked. Also somtimes the contacts ( finger pads) get gunge on them - give them a clean as well.
There is data about the battery in the original instructions and warnings about shorting across the two contacts. Best idea is to take it to a watch kiosk or key place and get them to do it as you need a small watchmakers screwdriver. Also there are several batteries of similar size and shape so best to get an expert to do it.
