I take mine before my evening meal. 900mg.

Magnesium Definitely assists sluggish bowels and this is why I began taking mine in the evening whilst at home.

Thank you, very interesting

I take some in the morning and then again evening with food. I found the evening made my stomach sore so instead of a pill I went onto Ancient Minerals transdermal spray.

My Alternative Practitioner agrees with Bigleg that a Red Blood Cell test with BioLab is important to check where you are; it costs me £25 at my local hospital to take the blood and then around £50 at Biolab, London, who only take samples when initiated by a professional practitioner/medic. Don't get mislead by the standard NHS test which almost always shows OK.

I agree wholeheartedly that magnesium levels and potassium should be tested. Can we mount a campaign for this. Need a student to take it up as part of a PhD research Project

If it is in tablet form, then with food, spread out over the day, so as to minimise any negative effects on the digestive system ie When it suits you!

I was going to start on a magnesium supplement as I had heard some people swear that it helped with their afib. It would appear that the best form to take for cardiovascular troubles is magnesium taurate, which I have to say doesn't come cheap but that's not a consideration if it helps. I them came across a study which seems to indicate that oral magnesium supplements had no effect whatsoever on a fib patients but could treat the arythmia tournament de pointes if given in iv form. I'm now as confused as ever again! eurheartj.oxfordjournals.or...

How does this supplement, "which doesn't come cheap", 'help' with AF? Does it stop it?

Magnesium deficiency has been linked to irregular heart beats and lots of people with a fib take it as a supplement. How it works on a cellular level I'm afraid I've no idea but the link I've posted above seems to suggest it's not very effective in stopping episodes of a fib.

I don't really know the science behind it but many people on this forum do. Apparently if you are deficient it can cause irregular heart rhythm.
