Hi Everyone.
Can anyone tell me if they have ever used these two together. I have been given Corsodyl by my
dentist to treat a gum problem.
Those very knowledgeable people out there is there a difference between antibiotics and antibacterial?

I take Apixaban too so I am interested in your question. I checked drug interactions under the ingredient chlorohexidine topical and found no interaction with Apixaban but hopefully someone may have actually used it and can help.
Antibacterials kill/slow down bacteria only. Antibiotics act against bacteria and a range of other pathogens, except viruses.
While we don't have that product here in the US, that I've seen, it should be fine. Using an antimicrobial to help to prevent gum disease is beneficial for your heart because unhealthy gums can lead to heart problems.
My dentist is well aware I am on Apixaban and would definitely check with the dental hospital before prescribing me anything that would affect it. Hopefully yours has checked too. Good luck. Patricia.
I take Apixaban and have used Corsodyl Mouth wash and gel regularly and have not had any problems. But that is me and everyone is different.
Good Luck.

I haven't had any problems using Corsodyl gel or mouthwash either - and my dentist is well aware I'm taking Apixaban as it was a consideration when deciding which antibiotic she would give me for an abscess and which anesthetic for root canal work.
