I take Flecainide as a PIP and it's amazing at stopping my heart from racing. Takes anything from half to just over an hour. I'm sure it will do the same for you. Like a miracle pill! Let us know how you get on.
Bisoprolol normally stays in your system for 24hrs, but with me it doesn't so I take a small dose like your 1.25 each time I take Flec. Not that I'm suggesting you do the same. What were you advised to do?
I had to resort to taking Flec as PIP recently (2 x 100mgas advised) it worked for me after an hour or so. How did you get on? All ok I hope & you have managed to get away.
A&E didn't mention Bisop judt take flec and if it doesn't work A&E in 4hrs ...Heart still 150 took flec 75 min ago can it still work do you think??? x x
just really upset but not ill ...I was praying the flec would work .... Trying to get hold of doc before A&e maybe if I took another flec it would work....?
Good idea to speak to your doc. If I took another flec I would want to take a beta blocker with it. I think you have to wait at least 4 hours before taking another, but hopefully your doc will advise. Another thing I've found is that my heart rate never decreases if I just sit and don't move around. Quite often it will revert to normal when I take a shower. x
hi x on my way home....they gave me 2.5 bisop and went back to 50bpm from 160 in a few minute... so confused the doc in a&e said was very unlikely the flec would work after 7 hours but 10mg of bisop didnt work all all last week but seemed to work today. So he said to double my bisop to 2.5 and take flec as pip. my hr is 45 without Af so god knows what it will be with double bidop.
Thank you all again....just in taxi on way home really fed up and more confused x x x
If your heart rate went down that quickly the chances are that it was the Flecanaide kicking in in my experience it take at least 2 hours to enter your system and usually 3 or if bad attack even longer - i think it reaches maximum effect at 6 hours - so worth hanging in there.
I now take 200mg flecanide in one go as PIP and always works within 2 hours. I used to take 100mg and would always end up in A&E and have to take more. I think 300mg is the maximum dose daily. It helps. Do check with your doctor first
Sorry that the Flec didn't work especially as I had told you it has for me. I do wonder if part of the problem was your fear of missing your week end and the PIP would it work? So your stress levels were battling away. Just a thought though as I am no medic. It is just the AF disappeared so fast when you were safe with the hospital staff.
Are you going to Hull or is it too late and you are exhausted?
HI all x Thanks for your replies. Had a very depressing morning, so fed up and didn't go to Hull as too tired and would have made my other half more depressed. But I have shook myself up and now trying to be Pollyanna about the evil AF. Yep the Flec may not have worked straight away but from some of your comments it may have worked after 4 hours and got in my system alongside the 2.5 Bisop given at the hospital. Whatever the main thing is and for whatever reason the episode only lasted 8 hours, NOT 24 hours like the previous 2. Plus they were great at A&e and walked straight to resus and didn't have to wait and my anxiety wasn't nearly as bad and that is thanks to you guys.
The consultant said I did the right thing going but he said to leave it 8 hours if it happens again but I am going to see the AF nurse on Wednesday so I will have a good chat with her, she is lovely and feel really at ease with her. I have this AF and it's not going to go anytime soon and I have to learn to deal with it.
The more we have it, the more experienced we are, and it becomes tedious rather than scary. You've moved forward but it's a pity your weekend didn't happen as planned.
