TOE done, not very pleasant but bearable. Throat painful now but no doubt will ease off. Staff were amazing, well done T.O.E. Dept. at Castle Hill. Ablation next week.
T.O.E.: TOE done, not very pleasant but... - Atrial Fibrillati...
T.O.E.
Well good luck with the ablation - probably less unpleasant than the T.O.E. - though I can't say really as I've never had the latter.
Well done and good luck for next week. We're you sedated for the T.O.E. ?
Mild sedation but could still feel it
I am more worried about the T.O. E. Than the ablation, and that's saying something! X
Deodottie, so was I!! You just have to tell yourself how vital this procedure is. Are you STILL waiting for your ablation? Sandra
I'm afraid so. Apparently, after 6 months on the list I will be " dealt with" and by January,it will be 6 months so we shall see. I keep phoning to make a nuisance of myself but it hasn't done any good yet. X
Good luck,is castle Hill in Hull or where ? Terry
Thanks please let us know how it goes, Terry
Good luck with the ablation and your recovery
Hi I am waiting to see an EP at Castle Hill...I have had 2 cardioversion which were successful but only for a short while. My cardiologist is Dr Tweddle and she has referred me to the EP.....to be honest I'm terrified about ablation but I can't carry on like this A F affects every part of my life, my breathing, heart rate of over 100 persistently even though I'm on Bisoprolol and fatigue like I've never known. Whats is TOE? and why do you have to have it? I'm 52 and feel like 100. x Hope all goes well for you next week, keep us all informed. xxxx
Thank you, the TOE is to see if there are any clots lurking in the atria. It also seems that bisoprolol makes people really tired( from what others on this site say). My EP is Dr Neil Hobson, he is at Castle Hill and The Spire. I requested to be referred to him following contacting the AF Society. I hope that you get referred soon to an EP and start to feel better. I'm hoping that the ablation 'cures' me or at least puts me in remission for a long time, might be wishful thinking but it's worth a try. X
Having spoke to Dr Tweddles secretary today I have been informed that I will bee seeing Dr Hobson in the very near future fingers crossed xxxx Is he nice? x
He is lovely, very approachable really easy to talk to. x
Even if you're taking warfarin do you need the T O E? x Hope you don't mind me asking Suzie what age group are you....I thought I was quite young to be suffering AF xxx
Abihel, the answer to your first question is ' yes '! Although some have posted that they did not have a TOE . Don't know what that's about as I thought it was a requirement prior to Rf ablation.
I had a laser balloon ablation which includes the use of a camera. My first ablation was run-of-the-mill. Neither included a TOE as far as I'm aware. I certainly didn't attend in advance. Both were with sedation rather than a GA. The first was at Wythenshawe Hospital and the second at Blackpool.
Thank you x
My EP always does the TOE immediately before the ablation when I am out with a GA.
Hi I had a TOE 4 months ago in preparation for a chemical cardioversion. I had sedation and other than finding the anaesthetic spray to the back of the throat unpleasant I have no recollection of the procedure. An added bonus was I went back into SR during the procedure so didn't need the cardioversion. I am 61 and my EP is Dr Hobson at CHH near Hull I can highly recommend him. I am having another TOE next week prior to ablation the following week. Hoping all goes well on both procedures.
