Skydive for charity

Has anyone done a skydive for charity? I'm over 70 still quite fit with persistent AF. I will be discussing it with my GP but I thought I'd see if anyone on our forum has done this.

Regards

John

Hi John.

100% I'm in. Let's do it.

Due to our condition many places will turn us down unless we have a letter from the doctor saying we can go ahead - this is to cover their insurance of course.

I tried in Spain last year (before covid kicked in) but they wouldn't accept because of afib. I was tempted not tell them to be honest and just get on with it.

There are different jumps (and heights) you can do. We could donate the money to the forum.

I know a guy who does this in the UK. With an 'all clear' from your doc we are good to go.

I'm up for it if you are ?

I won't back out.

Never seen the sense in jumping out of a perfectly servicable aircraft myself but whatever appeals.

I think you and Paul are amazing for wanting to do it. Hats off to you both x

I think it's fairly safe now as you will be doing a piggy back jump, but it will still get the adrenaline going....nothing wrong with that.

When I did my first jump many years ago, I had about a half hour explanation of how to exit the plane and which cord to pull before I found myself climbing out onto the wing strut of a Cessna at 5000ft and hurling myself into space, alone...that's how it was done in those days.

I'm still here....I would recommend doing it, it's quite an experience.

Legs together, knees bent....

Good luck

Hi John.

I've done a bit of research and I think we'll be good to go. We'll need a letter from our doc's but it is unlikely to be a problem.

Now we can't do it right this minute due to lockdowns / tiers etc. However we can still book it for a little later in the year.

Shall we throw caution to the wind (so to speak) and get things booked ?

I can PM you my home number if you want a chat.
