The purpose of this first post is to give assurance to everyone awaiting ablation. I will supply full details later but meantime:-
I have no pain, no bruising and I cannot feel my heart.
I owe grateful thanks to all at the Liverpool Heart Hospital. BStanding56 who saw my first post here and called to see me and explained about her two ablations, Bob who said dental treatment was worse, Loo who wrote super posts.
Why do we worry? We fear loss of control, helplessness, loss of dignity and the unknown.
The advice to take a sports bottle of water was invaluable. I wish I had laid out my bits and pieces on the trolley so that it could be best positioned. I had a tiny portable radio and the TV remote . I had a little mirror, my phone and would have liked my fluorescent clock. The thing I desperately needed was Vaseline or similar because drying out of lips was a horrid problem.
One final thing, they dawb a steriliser onto your leg. It resembles strawberry instant whip. They got some on my right hand and it doesn't come off. The nurse warned me not to use a white towel in the shower.
I'll post details of my weird plumbing shortly!

Hi jennydog glad to hear you got through it fine. I knew you would. Yes I nearly bottled it on the last minute and was persuaded by one of the docs to "at least use this opportunity you now have to let Gupta go and have a look", the doc said "listen if you dont need it doing then dont worry he's not exactly going to carve Gupta was 'ere" in your left atrium" so on that basis I went ahead. My fear was making a bad condition worse. Turns out I did need out.
Yes the rooms were very warm and my lips got dry and I got a fright with the pink stuff on looking down at my groin I blurted "what the hell is that??"thinking it was blood in my groin! Don't worry it comes off but I've got some nice pink underwear now previously white. But the entry site is very neat! Great news!!
"I have no pain, no bruising and I cannot feel my heart."
That's great news Jenny. That was me as well. It was weird not being able to feel even if I had a heart. It was only then that I realised I'd had a problem for decades. I was back to gentle but physical work on the 3rd day (not recommended). Bit of a tightness in my chest from all the burning I guess, but other than that I felt good.
