Please can anyone tell me why I'm either freezing or boiling hot , I didn't used to be like this I wonder if its to do with the af, there seems to be no happy medium. I've had 2 days now absolutely freezing and Sunday I was hot all day . It's not the menopause . Thanks I know someone on here will know , your all brilliant .

I'm like that Julia, I've always been a cold, the only time I was warm was when I was pregnant. Since I've been on Bisoprolol I'm hot and then I'm freezing, I can't get a handle on it. Way passed the menopause so it's not that, I can only put it down to the meds

Well mine is due to hormones or lack of due to my monthly implants post prostate cancer. . Great sympathy for all ladies of an age.

G'day Julia,

I'm with MammaCass - down to meds - IN PARTICULAR - a beta blocker - like Bisoprolol (which I'm on). I was diagnosed with this AF bloody thingy in Jan 2010 and its only now I can say the impact of the meds is minimal. I was always more cold than hot in fact I can recall many occasions when I'd have to go to bed in mid summer with an electric blanket, a hot water bottle, gloves and socks on too ! Placing the hot water bottle around the heart seemed to do it then I'd fall asleep for about 4 hours wake up, get up and carry on as if nothing had happened. My heart rate would drop to around 46 bpm. My blood pressure would suddenly and inexplicably rise to around 160/90 (normally around 127/75). However, as time has marched on this hot and cold feeling- especially the cold - is now almost non existent. Matter of interest, before AF my resting heart rate was always around 88/90 bpm and sometimes higher. The Bisoprolol has it now controlled at around 68 bpm and that's about perfect for me. Means I can function brilliantly. I can't remember the last time it dipped to 46 but I know how crap and useless I felt when it did so.

Actually, I've just had some Podiatry treatment and the Podiatrist commented how warm my feet were. I said to her - oh! good oh - means the blood is getting down there !!

Hope this helps

Aussie John

I'm a bit hot and cold, I thought it was probably the warfarin, certainly the cold part... :)

Hi, I was wondering why I get freezing cold extremities especially after I have gone out for a few hours, nothing strenuous even to and from hospital 4 bus rides in total. First time was after taking 48hr monitor back was wrapped up with a room temperature of 25 degrees, a few hours later still cold and then suddenly nearly passed out. This was before my diagnosis of PAF so on no medication, initially referred with low heart rate of 50 and extreme tiredness (still working then currently off sick since November) also going dizzy initial reason to stop working. Since then on medication and twice in the last week I have gone out to meet a friend for lunch, no walking round or shopping, got home again freezing cold. Have asked doctor and I just get blanked, although yesterday when I asked him AGAIN, he said there was nothing wrong with my heart structurally. As you know I am changing my GP next week at the latest. Will ask cardiologist instead. My heart rate does drop to 46 and rarely goes above 55 unless having palpitations, these are all resting rates. At the moment I would kill for a pacemaker.

I have the hot/cold thing, had it when on Bisoprolol but also when I wasn't. Don't take warfarin so not that, do take Flecainide so wonder if it is that? It's always worse when I am feeling tired.

Good morning Julia59, I am always freezing ever since I have been on Warfarin. I asked at the Clinic and they told me that some people do get affected in this way while on this drug. I have only been on Bisoprolol for a couple of weeks so I know it must be the Warfarin. Awful feeling so cold isn't it, we have a wood burner and it is always on full blast, my poor husband feels the heat!! Wish I could be hot sometimes!

Yes, the people on here are wonderful, I have learnt such a lot since joining last year.

Take care all of you.
