Here i am sat waiting at the hospital for my fourth ablation (cryo this time). I am reasonably optimistic but as Isit here in fibrillation I dream of the day when i can put this all behind me!

Will be thinking of you and hoping this procedure ends your AF. Let us know as soon as you can how you are afterwards.

Good luck Timmo, hopefully I'll be having another one soon, and would love to put it all behind me.

Well I've just had my debrief and he said he found activity in the vein that he wouldn't have got to with rf, and he is very optimistic (which I've heard before). I feel great just a little groggy from the anaesthetic which isn't unpleasant :)

Very best wishes for a speedy and permanent recovery.

I'm one of many on this site who are facing the prospect of a first ablation. I'm so grateful to you for posting your details and experiences. If you are prepared to have 4 ablations then I have to query why I'm making so much fuss about just ONE!

I hope you are feeling OK today. Are you home yet?

I am now 4 days post ablation and all fine. I have had some palpitations/fast heartbeats but warned to expect that.

I hope it is successful this time - for you and for myself.

Best wishes

Marie

Thanks for the support on here guys, I am now lay on the settee at home with a blanket over me :} I am still feelng a bit groggy and my groin is a bit more tender than I remember last time. But interestingly I have just had all the indicators that my heart was starting to go out of rhythm but it didnt!!

The procedure took two and a half hours but I thought it had taken about 40 minutes and that I was concious all the way through :} Obviously I wasnt and I think I woke up when he was testing the phrenic nerve at the end, which makes you hiccup (at least I think its the phrenic nerve}.

Although it is all very daunting there is less pain involved than a visit to the dentist, but with a considerably longer recovery time.

If anyone has got any questions please fire away and I`lll keep updating how I feel.

When you are feeling better it would be interesting to know what you thought about the cryo ablation, comparing it to the ordinary ablation. There was an article in a local paper( North Wales) about a woman who had cryo ablation and the entry point was in her chest, not the groin. Am I correct in thinking that they can do a bit of both at the same time? I wonder how they decide? Best wishes for a good recovery.

Yes they can do a bit of both but I'm pretty sure he just used freeze on me. If you look at my earlier posts there is a link to an Express article about the technique when it was new

Last night I was having lots of ectopic beats and had two short bursts of AF, they both lasted a couple of minutes which is different than before. I know this is to be expected but I can't help thinking of the people who have no AF afterwards and feeling a little envious. I have had a good solid nights sleep and hopefully that will aid the recovery. Happy Sunday everyone!
