Well since my second ablation 5mths ago, I've had af attacks from 5min to 2hrs every day Barr a great 4wk period of nothing, so I've been told I'm booked in for a 3rd ablation, AND my doc says the ep said I had a wee flutter that he's gonna have a look at this time? Why not during my 2nd ablation did he not deal with the flutter????
3rd time lucky???: Well since my second... - Atrial Fibrillati...
3rd time lucky???
Oh, so disappointing! But you're booked in again so third time lucky, hopefully. Regarding the flutter, don't EPs tend to be cautious and under ablate rather than overdo it? Oh well, another hoop for you to jump through, but it could work a treat this time.
My understanding is that often any flutter disappears after ablation, indeed my did, so wait and see. Ablation for flutter is a much easier procedure unless you have unusual physiology like me!
I believe that sometimes having ablations can cause the flutter. I think we all need to be aware of the fact that ablations can sometimes cause more problems. After 2 ablations and the second one lasting 6 hours I've been told now that because of the extensive scaring in my heart they are unable to do any more procedures, so I am stuck with atrial flutter and also my AF has recently come back.

I am sorry to hear that but it sounds very familiar. I just had my third one done 5 weeks ago and had 4 flutters or AF since. I know I am still in the blanking period but nonetheless I am not optimistic. In my case, having those ablations, has done more bad than good. I told my EP a few months back but he told me they don't create new arrhythmia's, still I have flutters which I did not have prior to my ablations.
I think a new ablation is out of the question for me.
How do you proceed now?
Thanks guys!
