Hi can anyone help me?..today my husband had a successful cardioversion but has tremors in his left hand.

The tremors are affecting his fingers just on that hand. He has been kept in hospital for observation as they don't know what is causing them ... Very odd! Has anyone heard of this or experienced it?? Thank you. They seem to have ruled out a stroke (I think)

Hi Kazzie, yes I have seen these tremors, both my mother and grand mother had AF and both developed tremors, the doctors didn't offer any explanation and told Mum she would have to live with it, however that was quite a few years ago and I'm sure they'll be able to get to the bottom of it for your husband. I'm delighted to hear the cardioversion was successful.

Thank you for replying so quickly.....I was thinking it was a nerve issue too...hopefully it will disappear on its own

cardioversion gives the body a massive shock causing muscles to spasm etc you have to sign a disclaimer before procedure warning you of risks including damage to teeth , I would give a educated guess and say its probably a trapped nerve , nothing to worry about

Hi

I had cardio version last week and also ended up with some tremors in my both hand. These have now subsided. Keep positive. I am sure your husband had other medication as well given which could have a this effect. Regards . Eva

One of my nine cardioversions got rid of a trapped nerve I had in my back for some months. I would say it is probably a nerve complaining of the shock

Thank you everyone...seems you were all correct!!... He is home now and the tremor should disappear on its own. Another question though....how long will he stay on warfarin nd can he get back out cycling again....they gave him no advice at all today!!!!

Hi Kazzie

I would always check with the doctor before going back to exercise, but they are likely to encourage it, as it often seems to help as long as you do not overdo it.

Warfarin? length depends really on his stroke risk and whether or not he is back in NSR and how long that lasts etc etc. I was offered to come off the warfarin, and I am more than happy to stay on as it's an easy drug to take and the thought of a stroke terrifies me.

Be well and best regards
