Zytiga and chest pain?

Has anybody experienced chest pain as a side effect of treatment? (currently on Zytiga and 6 month shot of Leuprolide, and Xgeva)

First episode was in October. Sudden onset of very intense pain, radiating from chest up and around ears. Feared heart attach and went to ER by ambulance. Everything checked out fine and he was sent home.

The pain has returned at different pain levels and at different time intervals. It is not being caused by certain situations or movements. Just wondering if anybody had anything similar.

I had a bad instance of AFib 24 months into Zytiga with Lupron. Cardiologist recommended I stop Zytiga, it was a fight with my PAST oncologist. I have been fine since then, although Im on a low dose beta-blocker.

My AFib symptoms were similar, though I also had a pleural effusion, which came first? I dont know. But I do remember the pain in chest radiating to neck.

I recommend you get a full work up by a Cardiologist. I just went through a stress test, and Echo. My EKG did show signs of a past infarction (Heart attack) But otherwise fine.

Thank you. I will check into it with my oncologist and PCP.

It's one of the reasons I stopped Abiraterone. I had an ER visit because of chest pains, and had some weird heartbeat, but nothing showed up on subsequent tests.

My oncologist said I could try to pause it, and since my PSA was ok for sone time after that, he said I could stop altogether.

I have checked my smartwatch at each episode, and it did not show anything weird in regards to my heartbeat. I will definitely follow up with my doctors to try to find the cause. Thank you for your input.

I had pain like you have when I had a blockage in my coronary arteries. Have you had a cardiac catheterization to look for blocked coronary arteries?

Recently, I've been having issues with PVC's after about a year on Zytiga. My MO has no idea and my regular cardiologist was stumped. So I got a referral to a Cardiac Oncologist. He has scheduled me for a cardiac MRI to see if there is anything in the heart muscle itself that might be affecting the electrical conductivity. But before that I had several EKG's and a cardiac specific blood test. I wore a Holter Monitor for 2 weeks and I had an Echo Cardiogram. All of them came up negative for infarction, but the PVC's were there.

Good to know. My oncologist contacted me today to check PSA now rather than at our regular appointment mid April. PCP appt is also mid April. I will definitely try to get to the cause of this.

I am on Zoladex every 3 months & Nubeqa 600mg day & first time ever I had chest pains. The GP didnt seem worried & put me on asprin to thin blood & a puffer incase it happens again.

All these damn drugs have these SE. My Oncologist refuses to see me because I reduced his Nubeqa from 1200mg day to 600mg so it is a wait & see game for me.

All the Best to you with this cancer.

When I was on Lupron, it felt like I had a steel strap bound tightly around my chest and also a man standing on my breastbone at the same time.

I was fine for three years. Now this weird thing is happening. PSA is creeping, too. I have contacted my oncologist and will see PCP in April.

for years I have suffered with degenerative disc disease that require celebrex for pain relief. When doctor told me I’d be on it the rest of my life I knew heart health could suffer so I researched what I could take to mitigate the irregular heartbeat caused by the nsaid. I came up with magnesium and curcumin. Within 6 weeks my bp dropped to 100 to 110 over 60 to 70 and palipitations stopped.

A friend of mine had knee pain so I suggested he ask his doctor if he could take curcumin. Doc says to watch bp as it may drop. Friend found no pain relief but he was scheduled for a heart procedure because bp was high and heartrate was only in 40s. After taking the curcumin for several weeks he went off of bp meds and heart rate went to normal. No procedure required.

A little off topic but my glucose was running 20 to 30 points high so I figured I’d try berberine. After 6 weeks my glucose was back in normal range. Berberine also has separate benefits for fighting pca as well as promoting gut health and lowering lipids and tryglicerides. I know some have no interest in trying supplements but many on this forum have found great benefit from supplements. God bless.

Thank you for the input. My heart rate has been fine thus far. Let's see if we can find the cause.
