Dad was diagnosed with Prostate cancer stage |V B in February 2024. Distant bone Mets. Doctors did not feel the need to do triplet therapy and did bilateral orchidectomy instead. He was on doublet therapy and started abireterone +pred which worked for 5 months and PSA started to increase.
He received Apceden vaccine in Nov’24.
PSMA pet scan showed disease progression and he started chemotherapy - docetaxel +Carboplatin in Dec 24. Enzalutamide was added after 6 cycles when PSMA pet scan showed mixed response of chemotherapy.
PSA is still increasing and has reached 37. Nadir was 0.14 in August 2024.
My dad is asymptomatic. He has no pain, no loss of appetite, no fatigue nothing. He had no side effects from chemo as well. He is still working, driving and living life as usual.
Don’t know what to do next. One side I am happy that he has no issues clinically but the PSA and scans are reflecting something else. MO is not being helpful and wants us to continue with chemotherapy which clearly is not helping. Please help with treatment options that can be helpful.
