Any liver detox that works?

Am Gleason 5+4 with spread to lymph and bone. Been on Zytiga + prednisone for 6 months plus Lupron injection every 4 months. Visited a naturopathic store recently and see quite a few detox supplements. Was wondering if anyone uses anything. Have a liver test coming up and last time (Nov) ALT/AST levels were still a bit high at 61 and 39 respectively. Med Oncologist says to drink.more water etc but never said anything about supplenents to detox. I don't want to waste my money if they don't work. Comments are invited.

I don't know if this applies to you but a hard workout or long runs can increase AST/ALT by a lot. I always take it easy a week before the test.

Will find the references if you are interested.

Yes had not considered that aspect. I do vigorous hikes sometimes. Going in for Lupron shot today. Sux but yeah

These are the references. Note the units in the first are using µkat/l, multiply by 60.

pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articl...

This shows that levels are extremely high for quite a few days. The people are untrained, I suspect if you are used to it, the effect is less pronounced.

My AST/ALT figures were always a bit high but now I take Abiraterone they are fine! ( I now take it easy before a blood test)

This case report suggests that many doctors are not aware of the issue. Luckily the patient did his own research and saved getting invasive tests.

Before his follow-up assessment the patient took it upon himself to abstain from exercise training for seven days

I was under the impression that they were of no value

If you find chatgpt to be useful, this is it's take on "liver detox". It agrees:

Chatgpt: I’m with you—detox is largely a marketing gimmick! A healthy liver doesn’t need “cleansing,” and most of those supplements just lighten your wallet.

My prompts weren't exactly neutral 😉

I had the same issue and helped my liver by going organic, whole foods, no alcohol, no added sugar, no meat, etc. I looked into other avenues but my oncology dietician always brought me back to real food.

Hope this helps.

Dandelion root. Blend the root because it is hard and then make tea. A good liver detox.

Yes this seems to be in a lot of detox formulations but the question is how much and in combo with what?

Let me give you my experience. My wife was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. We tried all sorts of treatments, but as you know oesophageal cancer has a low survival rate. After a period of time, all treatments were exhausted and her cancers went into her liver. My wife was given 3 months. I tried everything to give her quality of life. I discovered that organic dandelion root used as a tea was a liver detox. I chopped, ground, blended the root to make a powdery mix, and gave her a daily cup of tea. Her 3mths life expectancy extended to 6mths. In that time, there was no yellowing of the skin or the whites of her eyes; her liver was functioning. I loved my wife dearly and I know that I did everything possible for her. Most importantly, she had quality of life, dying peacefully in my arms. My advice, research and try anything when all else fails. Good luck.

a supplement used for liver support for patients with cirrhosis is TUDCA - no harm in trying it. I use it when I use SARM’s and other peptides which may have an impact on the liver.

My father was taking Silymarin for his liver. You should stop taking Silymarin one week before surgery that is what I was told by my urologists. Otherwise definitely ask your doctor about that supplement.

I paid only 12 Australian dollars for 60 capsules here in Sydney. My was made in NZ.

Coffee enemas. Youll prob need more than one because it takes a little getting used to.

Its hard to keep the coffee solution in at first. So Iwould suggest you try starting out in a bath and not on the floor

Ok but I have gut issues so may stay away.

Hi he's rite about the water, there's no better detox, although many fruits and veggies offer excels results. Grapes with seeds, pomegranate, watermelon, mangoes, cherries all are great antioxidants. Greens beans and sweet potatoes are the super fighters of sugar HP and depressive issues. Did that your body don't have to go into overdrive to metabolize are the key to energy, reduced brain fog and fight anxiety and depression. There are herbs that assist with this as well, many meds have trace amounts of herbs normally with starch as the filler which is a high carbohydrate, and THEY don't tell u that. Here u go why do must men that have prostate issues have high BP and diabetes?? Because most meds prescribed do both by lowering those issues and boosting then as a side affect. The effects, depression, insomnia, dehydration, dizziness, nausea, weakness all contribute to the development and increase of other health issues as before mentioned, so it can be a sick circle bro, and they almost NEVER address diet and replacement of minerals, vitamins and herbs which can and will reverse most all health issues because we are out of balance. That's a lot I know, hope it helps you. Cheers

Mike65g in reply toSsgCulldelight

ks for the focused reply. One of the best so far. When I think of mineral replacement as you mention, I also think of electrolytes can't help but think they help in the rebalancing you referring to. Yep, focused answers are great.

SsgCulldelight profile image
SsgCulldelight in reply toMike65g

YW, and yes on the electrolytes they're critical for ph , potassium, calcium, magnesium natural sodium and a host of other important minerals your body needs to repair and replenish what we lose during a24 hour period and beyond. Acid vs alkaline balance is exactly that a balancing act performed by through and during metabolizing of the did we intake. This is why a diet low in highly processed foods is crucial to our advancement. The food triangle we ALL were programed to follow is detrimental from its inception, to remove one group above ALL I would say Dairy, we are the Only bio Organisms that consume the milk or products of Other animals. Animals will reject milk from others unless they are starving, they won't hunt for it. We know better so we Must do better. Diet, mental, physical and food is the true key to excellent health, maybe that's why the FDA , AMA, CDC etc. Ridicule and denounce holistic and natural Herbs , plants and truly organic foods for healing and health. No they want u to go to a doctor, psych, or other clinicians to do cake manage your issues, they never say CURE, because they don't. Medicine is a PRACTICE, and THEY treat you according to historical data complied to categorize Your symptoms by percentage and make their best educated guess according to the success rate. Everyone is different with many similarities bro we know this, so why not address the deficiency? Can't make money doin that.

Coves are supposed to be good for the liver plus cloves have many other benefitsCloves are high in catalase - which declines with age

Mike65g profile image
Mike65g in reply toLizzo30

Ok. Cloves are good and important anyway. I have seen people smoke them in Indonesia but of course I wouldn't due to health concerns. Are they good in combo with other spices?
