Liver detox after chemo?

I am starting Taxotere next week and received some advice from a friend fighting serious colon cancer. He told me how he detoxed his liver after each cycle. He used TUDCA Bile salts and PectaSol from ECONugenics Company. econugenics.com/collections...

Under the circumstances I suspect that his chemo was more toxic than what I'll experience. Perhaps I can wait until I finish all cycles? Does anybody have experience with detoxing?

I use milk thistle and all my values are back to normal before the next chemo. But maybe they would be anyway! Try to let your liver rest, try to avoid fried food, greasy food, sweet stuff and reduce alcohol intake.

drink lots of water before and after. Some studies have shown fasting before chemo helps the efficacy and lessens side affects.

I'm planning on fasting 48 hours before and 24 hours after. We follow a Mediterranean type diet, so I eat pretty healthy usually. I plan on drinking a lot of coconut water afterwards to help offset the loss of potassium from the steroids. It also has magnesium to help with nausea.

Careful with antioxidants right before and after chemo because they could interfere with taxanes. Leave selenium alone! Beware of B6. Careful with calcium. In general unless there is a specific lack I would stay away from every supplement that gives you the 100% RDA of anything. More is almost never better. Plus it’s a constantly evolving cancer. For example curcumin is good for prevention but could lead to false psa readings. Creatine is great for muscle mass but if you have metastasis it could enlarge them so it’s good for early stages. And many of these papers are about cell lines or mouses, which means there is a high probability that they are useless for humans. I got a aching head now!

Yes, I think you may be correct. His may have been more toxic. I didn’t find much liver issues with my six months of taxetere. The one thing I maintained was a fairly rigorous, tennis and exercise schedule, whether I felt like it or not. Good luck my friend. Cannabis use got me through the three worst days each cycle. Without it the nausea would have been unbearable. That’s the only change. I remember in my routine. I’m not used to cannabis so it would make me dopey
