A few months ago 4 or more tumours were found in my husband's liver. Hes also fighting a staph infection that he has picked up in the hospital. He is in hospital now 8 weeks on iv antibiotics. He has had 2 goes of taxotere.
Communication is very bad with his team. It is very hard to know if infectious diseases are his primary team or oncology.
We are left in the dark regarding his prognosis despite repeated attempts at getting a family meeting none is forthcoming. My husband thinks the prognosis can't be that bad or they would've told us.
Is he right?

At least in the US, there should be a Patient Advocate, Rep. you should ask the nurses to contact them for you or someone who will seek better communication for you. Ask the nurses who the doctor in charge is. If the nurses are reluctant, seek this out via administration.
I am sorry you and he are going through this. They need to help you by answering your questions
Hard to say from the information you've provided but there must be a chain of command at the hospital. Perhaps see if going to supervisors gets you the information you need.
I would not assume "no news is good news" though. You're entitled to all the info about your case so you and your husband can make the decisions or be a material part of those decisions.
Hey Olive, we learnt the hard way that you need to shout daily for answers here. Consultants will fob u off on others if they don't have the answers, u need to demand them. X
