Could this be chemo flare? My dad is also not taking daily prednisone because it messes with his blood sugar (he is diabetic) . He is going to start taking it now. Could that affect PSA@?

As prostate cancer progresses, it sometimes puts out less PSA. Bone alkaline phosphatase is another biomarker for prostate cancer when it is in the bone
I will be starting Cabazitaxel next week and they are also adding carboplatin. Something to do with it maybe being better as I have CDK12 mutation.
When I did doxytaxal alone maybe a year ago my PSA went up and down during the cycles. It was explained that so many factors contribute to PSA level that PSA alone can not be used to monitor effectiveness of an ongoing treatment, alone.
You have to be patient, the psa can start to drop steadily even after 4 infusions of cabazitaxel. However what the scans will say is more important, I would do 4 infusions and then do some scans to really see what the cancer is doing.
