Happy Holidays all. Curious, anyone who’s taken a vacation from Zytiga, Prednisone and Lupron experience joint pain during your hiatus? I’m about 6 weeks into my reprieve and I feel it in all my joints. Not terribly painful but more like arthritis although never actually had that ailment. If so, anny suggestions ?.Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!

Yep, had joint pain in my hands elbow shoulders, knees and hips. I blamed it on the prednisone taper and delayed cortisol recovery. My joint pain improved over 6 months.
Similar situation to mine. While on Lupron and Abiraterone, I lowered my prednisone from 10 mg to 7.5 mg on one occasion and 5 mg daily on another occasion several months later. In both cases I had joint pain within 1 to 3 weeks which disappeared when I resumed prednisone at 10 mg daily.
🙋♂️.... I have joint aches and stiffness mostly in my hips and low back. I have seen many guys on HU refer to adt as an "age accelerator" and that couldn't be more true from my experience.
I had 24 months of leuprolide and 18 months of abiraterone/ prednisone that I stopped at the end of June 2024 after consulting with my MO. He felt it was a long enough regimen and would possibly be within single digit benefit of the STAMPEDE trial.
Time will tell if my psa stays < .006!
ADT sucks!
My husband has been on zytiga and prednisone for almost 2 years. Prior to that he had constant knee pain for many years and that stopped with the zytiga and prednisone. We always assumed the pain stopped due to the prednisone and assume if and when he stops taking it, the pain will resume.
much appreciated
In a word, yes!
Lots of joint pain after ending prednisone in early July. Thought it was due to cortisol production not resuming after Pred.
MO sent me to see endocrinologist who did a test to stimulate cortisol. I had a normal response, so probably just slow recovering from ADT.
Endocrinologist thinks my symptoms are from my still low T (32 at last check)from 2 years of ADT.
I’m working to improve T level through weight training. Just starting, so stay tuned. Hang in there.
Dr Google:: "Research suggests testosterone deprivation is associated with an increased risk of developing osteoarthritis (OA), as lower testosterone levels can potentially accelerate the progression of joint degeneration and worsen OA symptoms; this means individuals with low testosterone may be more susceptible to developing osteoarthritis in their joints" Probably the case with me..
my father in law had terrible joint pain after stopping Zytiga and prednizone. They stopped the steroid cold turkey and he was in miserable pain. I figure it had to be the effects of coming off the steroid. The pain went to a lower level but still persists. He is now on Xtandi and takes max dose of Tylenol.
