My husband is two weeks out of his radiation treatment had his first blood test after his Brachytherapy and IG-IMRT 25 sessions. The PSA is .05 which is a good thing I am assuming. But his Monocytes count was 13.2 which is borderline high and ABS lymph levels were .66 which is low. Are these both effects of the radiation he received? And if so is it temporary. His only symptom is fatigue. Willa supplement like B12 help? Or diet? Will also contact the nurse but was wondering. Thank you for any input.

Good morning Ms. Kahn!
My experience with radiation was different from your husband's treatment. I received 36 radiation treatments to my prostate area during the COVID epidemic. I never experienced any side effects from the radiation. My PSA was 0.04 the last time I had it checked about 6 months ago. I am due for another check soon. I don't know if I helped, but I hope your husband is feeling better. Have a good day!
My Medical Oncologist didnt monitor ABS nor monocytes while I underwent radiotherapy. I went through about 30 treatments overall. I experienced mostly fatigue but had very good response to the pain caused by bone metastases. I would suggest preparing for fatigue.
Haven't had any further RT since and the fatigue has gone away sufficiently that I am throwing some light weight dumbbells' around and hitting my rower regularly.
I had HDR-BT/IMRT five+ years ago and my WBC and lymph counts have been marginally low since then, because they are made in the bone marrow by the CD4 cells and the radiation kills off some of those cells in the pelvis. B12 and a diet rich in iron has helped my RBC counts, but my WBC counts have stayed persistently low. You might check the literature on whether CD4 cells can regenerate after radiation, and if diet has any effect.
My experience with 39 radiation sessions to my Prostate Bed was nuttin (during and after)....
BTW how old is your dear Husband?
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
