Is Abiraterone helpful in patients with extremely low Testosterone?

Hi everyone

My father has been on Lupron for 3 years now but his PSA has started to rise (latest 3.7ng/ml). His T levels are 0.06ng/ml. Is Abiraterone likely to help arrest cancer spread if the T is already so low? I know that Prostate Cancer thrives on other androgens as well but I am assuming that if T is so low, other androgens will be very low too.

Thank you

I don't know the mechanisms but can share my experience. My father in law was in a similar situation, T was low but PSA started to climb after a few years. Tried Zytiga first and it did not help. Switched to Xtandi and PSA came down from teens and has stabilized at 4 for several years. Cancer throughout bones but doing ok. Good luck

Abi prevents androgens from the adrenals and intratumoral synthesis. Castration-level of T is not enough in your father's case. Consider these combinations too:

Check liver function and if that is not as good, address it?
