I thought once I stopped Chemo I would be tapered off Prednisone. My MO has kept me on it. 10mg a day. Is this a common practice ? I'm also on Orgovyx and Nubeqa. Thanks in advance.

Prednisone
Interesting to do Prednisone + Nubeqa + Orgrovyx
Often MOs continue with Prednisone after chemo. However, this can cause resistant tumor. It can feed the cancer.

Well that's concerning. Thanks for the info it's appreciated.
The Finnish study seems to most heavily implicate Enzalutamide + Dexamethasone but not let Abiraterone+Prednisone off the hook. As for using prednisone after chemo, the Finnish study did not cover that. There are also good odds that one's cancer under doublet or triplet therapy will lead to a long time of good QoL.
I have been on prednisone for over a year maybe more like two years. It was prescribed when I was taking Abiraterone as a "replacement" dose. Wheh AB stopped I asked my MO why he wanted me to stay on prednisone. He explained that long term use of Abiraterone can cause the adrenal gland to permanently reduce of stop production of certain hormones completely. He said I could taper off and see if there were any effects. The dose is just 5mg which is believed to have few side effects according to every one of my doctors whom I asked.
No so you had better ask him for a good reason why
I finished my course of docetaxel chemo 3 weeks ago and was taken off prednisone last week and 'you only have that while on chemo'. As some of the others above write, ask for the reason your oncologist is keeping you on it without chemo.
That's the plan. Thanks for the reply.
I think the predinsone is needed to strengthen the blood while on chemo. Whether to carry on depends on results of blood test.
That is only a layman's inference. Best to ask your doctor.
