my husband’s latest PSMA showed a possible thyroid cancer. Anyone here developed a secondary cancer perhaps due to advanced PC treatment (chemo, radiation)? This is too much while dealing with the PC

thyroid cancer
If the PSMA/PET scan detected cancer in his thyroid, wouldn’t that be prostate cancer, despite it being in the thyroid?
Not a doctor, just a patient, but my understanding was that test just locates prostate cancer cells (well… the prostate-specific membrane antigen connected with PC), not other kinds of cancer.
Thyroid cancer expresses psma as well
I had no idea. Thanks for the info.
While some tumors (not only thyroid) express PSMA, it's not a uniform finding:

OTOH, thyroid cancer has become so common it's tough to point a finger in any individual case at RT or chemo. My late wife had thyroid cancer. As it happens, a CT prior to heart surgery last March disclosed a "moderately suspicious" nodule on my thyroid, and I've had neither RT nor chemo. That will need followup.
Thyroid cancer seems to suffer from some of the same cliches as prostate cancer--that it's slow-growing and it probably won't kill you. And like prostate cancer that's true--except when it isn't.
As it happens, my late father had a similar experience of cancer showing up in his lung, and when being staged they found a bunch of mediastinal nodes. But testing of the nodes disclosed that they were metastatic prostate cancer. But the nodule on his lung apparently WAS a new primary, and so he had surgery for that.
Have been down that road. My first PET scan showed a thyroid indication about 2mm in size. Biopsy showed Thyroid cancer, not related to PC. Had just one side of my thyroid removed. That was 12 years ago. I consider that find to be divine intervention. Still fighting the PC beast but, I'm still here.
