My thoughts, not sure -- are there emergency meds/procedures that would need to know APCa treatment? Should one's MO be in the loop? Are APCa patients likely to react adversely to common emergency actions?
should APCa patients wear medical ale... - Advanced Prostate...
should APCa patients wear medical alert bracelets
Don't see a need for it but may e someone else has an idea about this
Maybe someone with more experience with medical alerts will reply.
For myself the drugs I am on should be highlighted, my PC, my comorbidities.
This is a good question. I know on member that uses one and has recommended it in the past. I have a long trip with a lot of remote travel involved and may be time to get one myself. This is all based on how scans and blood tests go in late April but I think I will consider one at this point. Thanks for your post.
I don’t have a MA bracelet. There is no medicine I’m on or allergy I have which would necessitate a bracelet to immediately alert EMS.
I do have all my emergency contact info programmed into my phone and have all my various medicines / doses listed there as well. If I’m unconscious and brought to the ER, more information for the doctors at the ER is always better.
I wear the light blue PCa bracelet in hopes that someone will ask me what it is. Then I tell them about PCa and encourage them to get checked or answer any questions. Over the years I have been able to help several guys.
I'm on a blood thinner as well as all of my prostate cancer meds, so (when I remember, brain fog) I wear the blue and white blood thinner band.
A couple of side effects from Keytruda (non-functional adrenal and thyroid glands, ulcerative colitis), a heart valve replacement, and alpha gal allergy are reasons for my husband's MA bracelet. Without immediate action, he goes into shock. The hospitals are 30 minutes away.
I have all of my meds and illness' tatted on my chest and arms (in alphabetical sequence)..
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
