I started a Zytiga holiday yesterday. Still on Lupron for now. How long should I keep taking prednisone? I know Zytiga clears out pretty fast.

How do you taper off from 5mg? Pretty low already.

This how my doctor instructed me to taper of prednisone as well.

Hi. Curious as to why you stopped zytiga while continuing ADT? If u don't mind sharing that is.

This is step one. Want ot see the effect on my PSA from the Zytiga before dropping the ADT.

Eager to hear this as well as I am considering a Zyt vacation. And what is the monitoring plan? I t makes sense to me because Lupron addresses 85% of the testo- Zyt adresses 15% but seems to create most of the side effects for me.

Doing the regular three month blood test first as it would take a while for the PSA to rise. If there is a rise, then once a month.

I am not sure on your question, but early on in my consult with my oncologist she wanted to put me on Adt and prednisone, so I asked how long would I be on prednisone the reply was the rest of my life, I said ok I'll let you know. I learned for me, I Never refuse anything when in a doctors office I found put on my record . I have a friend who was on high- med-then low dose pred for a few years ...... Maybe I can ask him to let you know his experience sometime in a loud diner over a cup of coffee - Only because he always swears a lot no matter what. Not making any steered or suggesting comments one way or another I am a nobody not a Doctor - Underline my words : I , me, and my , in it's pure form- context here in.

Prednisone is only needed if you take Zytiga. It mimics the cortisol that Zytiga lowers. BTW - I swear a lot too!

The problem is taking 5 mg at once.

It spiked my blood glucose a lot for the first 8 hours. My previous MO, said, its a replacement dose. Yeah, but 5 mg released throughout the day. Ive been taking 1/4 of that 5mg pill 4 times a day. Helped a lot.

It will make it easy to taper when I stop Z/P in 6 months
