Hello all, I'm wondering if there is anyone in this forum that have prostate cancer treatments in York, Pennsylvania.I'm trying to see if anyone has found a treatment center and or Doctors in York that gives quality care and cares about your cancer and how your reacting to it. As far as I know there is Well Span Medical Care and Memorial UPMC medical care, both are hospitals that have cancer centers. I would like to compare their cancer treatment services to see which give the better cancer care. These are the only two I know of in York, Pa.. In Lancaster Pa theres Lancaster General which is a hospital with cancer care center. I would also like to compare cancer services and personal care with others here. Maybe this information would help others who may be in this forum who live in York, Pa.

Excuse my wording, this brain fog is a crap.

Penn Medicine LGH on the Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster has the Ann Barsinger Cancer Center. I recommend it.

You're not far from Hopkins. It would be about a 1.5 hour drive.

There is Hillman cancer center in Camphill PA and in Carlisle PA. They are part of UPMC (University of Pittsburgh.). I have gone both places and would recommend them. I would echo what was said about Hopkins as well. (They are rated very high on the national level).

I have stage 4 PC with bone and lung mets diagnosed almost 5 years ago. PSA then was 2250, now is <0.05 for more than 4 years. I live in York. My oncologist inYork is Amir Tabatabai with Cancer Care at Wellspan. At the time of diagnosis he encouraged me to get a second opinion at Hopkins, which I did. Cancer Care works closely with Hopkins and has all of the Hopkins treatments and diagnostic modalities available. I was disappointed with the arrogant oncologist at Hopkins. I had already started on ADT and Zytiga and he essentially told me I should have started on chemo instead. Anyway, Dr. T at Cancer Care is very smart, caring and takes his time answering every question. I am a retired physician so I have many questions and can judge his competence. I am very happy with care I have received. Cancer Care is conveniently located and the staff is great. Good luck and I hope you do well.

Hi, thanks for repying. I also live in York. I go to the Cancer Care Center as well. I see Dr Dan and John Zerfing, his assistant. I'm sort of satisfied with them but I'm always looking for better. I was on Cafodex for 2 years. Wben I started Casodex my psa was 46. First psa test after starting went to 3. 2.5 years later it started raising. Last psa on Casodex was 35. They took me off Casodex and started me on Orgovyx. That brought psa down to 2. Three psa test later psa was up to 41. Stopped Orgovyx and was put on Lupron injection last month. Get my first PSA test in a couple weeks. I was diagnosed with this crap in 2015. Biopsy came back with 3+4 =7. I was told by my urologist at the time to get the prostate removed but declined and started my own regiment on nutrients vitamins and diet. My urologist worked with me getting prostate MRI's, Bone Scans twice a year and psa test once a month, sometimes once every 2 months. PSA stayed around ;n but fluxuated between 10 and 20. Cancer was always contained with in the prostate and still is according to my last PET Scan 2 months ago. Been researching prostate cancer and treatments since 2015 for my own education in the subjects. I'm not sure thisnwas a good idea because now I'm leary of any treatment due to knowing all the side effects. Couple years ago I had a kudneysone operation. After that my psa rose to over a hundred, which is why I stopped treating myself because I lost control of psa and when I first started Casodex. Depending on how this next psa test come out I'm thinking of going the orchiectomy route. Yesh I know it is not reversable but the way I figure it, no morechemicals in my body for a few years but eventually will start those again when the cancer pops back up. Just one of my ways of thinking. Of course I'm still thinking of the Proton Beam therapy but travlung back and forth to Lascaster every day for 2 plus weeks does not fit my back problem. Cannot drivee for long periods without getting aevere back issues. Hurt my back back in 2000. Have not worked since then. Doc said out of the question, but I have snuck in part time work once in awhile until it caused to much to bare. Anyway, thats my story. Maybe I'll see you doc and see what he says.

I'm 78 living in York.

As golf nerd said, Amir Tabitabai. Psa was 5664 year and a half ago and I was bed ridden in horrible pain. Cancer in spine, pelvis, ribs, femurs, and lungs. I shot an eight point with a crossbow and drug him back to the truck myself on Wed. God Bless.

Shot a 8 point, much better then me. Have not been out for Deer in many years since I had my hat shot off taking aim at a Doe. Still have that hat here somewhere. Anyway, I'm 78, live in York and go to the Cancer Care clinic. I see Dr Dan and John Zerfling. Great docs. Just talked to Golf Nerd. Great guy. Seems like you've been through the wringer. Hope all works out good for you. If you got a 8 point with a crossbow and drug to your car your doing pretty good, lets hope it gets even better.

Hello, I am in Lancaster PA and though my primary care is currently under Johns Hopkins , I have reviewed local options for the go-forward and I interviewed Matt Brennan, MO here at Ann Barshinger inside of Penn/Lancaster General - he feels like the right guy.

The prostate RO is Dr Venigalla at Barshinger, well respected locally and by Penn/Philadelphia, which is a huge proton center, but you likely know this.
