tumor in spleen

my husband is having his spleen out very soon due to 2 tumors. We won’t know for sure if they are cancer until pathology done. He had radiation plus Lupron and has been in remission 2 years. 4 + 4 Psa still non detectable. Tumors picked up on pet scan to check kidney. Radiologist has said rare to metastasize to spleen. Said if it does he’d worry it’s neuroendocrine type. Anyone have experience with this? Treatment ? Prognosis?

Would or couldn't a biopsy be performed prior to removal of the spleen? Just curious... And when you say tumors were picked up on a PET scan for kidneys, I'm curious as to what type of PET scan? What agent used... For PCa?

Doctor said it’s hard to biopsy splenic tumors ( they bleed a lot). Surgery less risky. It was a Pet scan with contrast to look at a small kidney mass that we have been following for awhile. Not related to prostrate cancer. Since his psa is undetectable he considered himself in remission. Now his ro says it’s rare for prostrate cancer to metastasize to spleen and if it has he’d worry about the neuroenducrine type . Seems cancer originating in spleen is pretty uncommon
