Inhibition of Tumor-induced Angiogenesis

Boronic acid, and a series of boron-containing phenoxyacetanilide derivatives, have also been shown to greatly inhibit hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) 1.111 HIFs are heterodimeric (α/β) transcriptional factors and are major physiological stimuli for expression of angiogenesis factors. Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels sprouting from existing host capillaries, must occur for tumors to grow beyond a certain critical size. Inhibition of tumor-induced angiogenesis prevents growth of many types of solid tumors and provides a novel approach for cancer treatment; thus, HIF-1 is a target of antineoplastic therapy.

Induction of Cancer-cell Apoptosis

Sugar-borate esters act as boron vehicles, increasing the concentration of borate inside cancer cells relative to normal cells. Increased intracellular concentration of borate not only activates borate transporters but also leads to growth inhibition and apoptosis. In normal cells, the 2 latter, cell-destructive effects do not occur because the amount of borate present in a healthy diet, 1 to 10 mg/d, is easily exported from normal cells. Cancer cells, however, commonly overexpress sugar transporters and/or underexpress borate export, rendering sugar-borate esters as promising chemopreventive agents.112

Thanks,

As I noted in an earlier post -- I started taking 9 mg 2 days prior to PSA test (last Thursday) and my PSA dropped from .6 4 months ago to .5 last Thursday. Also see my newest post on the ASCO findings -- recommending emerging dietary micro nutrients.

I take 1/8 tsp of Boraxo (20 Mule Team) in my oatmeal every day.

Just some tips for you & others: 1/8 th tsp Borax is equal to 3 mgs of Boron (dose by weight of ~150 lbs). The maximum tolerable intake of Boron ~ 20 mg/day, but may depend on body weight & health. You might want to consider a good Magnesium supplement (chloride, citrate etc...) too, & Vitamins B, C, D, Selenium; plus have your Iodine levels checked before taking this vital supplement.

*Do not take Magnesium with Calcium or Zinc (take on empty stomach or w/juice), as these minerals will compete for absorption on cellular level. Get well soon.

Wisec-Crow, thanks for that info. I will get iodine level checked next month.

OK. Raisins, almonds, prunes are boron sources (I imbibe prune juice every day). I'll have to consider a boron supplement, preferably chelated as Nal suggested.

If Boron has an effect on Testosterone. see below. Should you be taking it while on ADT?

Thanks.

After only 1 week of boron supplementation of 6 mg/d, a further study by Naghii et al20 of healthy males (n = 8) found (1) a significant increase in free testosterone, which rose from an average of 11.83 pg/mL to 15.18 pg/mL

How much from swanson avena sativa did you take and for how long (do you still take it)?

George, What is a good brand of chelated boron, Life Extension? LE had 2000% rda of vit B2. Is that ok or should I use another brand? Ive been using Now brand but it's not chelated.

yes I use Life Extension .. also I just saw a video about cork tree extract -- Relora .. you may want to look into it and research IP - 6 Inositol also... one of the members has been taking it for years and thinks it may be what has kept his PCa from progressing.

I'm just concerned about that 2000% RDA of B2. Check this out - medicalxpress.com/news/2018...

Ya, CalBear is the person using high doses of IP-6 and having success with it but I wonder about the calcium and phosphorous amounts in it.
