I am not aware of the trial but I don't think it was Casodex that caused dementia. I was on Casodex for 5 years with not loss of mental capacity. I don't know what the injection was but you might look into that.
My husband was on Casodex for 2.5 years _because_ he already had cognitive impairment. We wished to avoid any precipitated decline that Lupron or Firmagon might cause. The suggestion for Casodex came from multiple members of this forum, two MOs in Orlando, and three ROs, one in Sarasota, one in Orlando, and one in Fort Pierce, FL. It has been 2 years since he stopped Casodex. We have noticed nothing other than the normal rate of decline. This goes to show how differently patients react to a common med.
I have ben on Casodex on and off but since I was also on other meds I can't say It was Casodex that did me in. I have severe loss of memory and even if I have no proof, I've always attributed to Luprn
