Paying it forward for folks whose partner is undergoing treatment.

Hi all, Almost two years ago my beloved husband and I received an unexpected diagnosis. With a PSA of 73, he was quickly and thoroughly scanned and biopsied to determine he has Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate Cancer. Many of you know that shock and horror. As the months have gone by and we rode this unfortunate roller coaster he is stable and we are good. Medication, radiation, Lexapro, Gemtessa, Flowmax and the love from friends and family have been lifesavers.

I always said that when I reached a point that I could support others that I would pay it forward to help support someone else, specifically the partners of those who are at this stage. This is justy attempt to listen and support anyone...I am not a professional and there is no money involved. My husband is still chemically sensitive to Eligard and he takes Erleada daily plus Xgeva for bone protection.

Anyone is welcome to PM me, especially if the diagnosis is new, the panic and waiting is indescribable. We'll probably learn from each other but mostly I wanted to say I am here for you. This site is THE BEST resource I found and I deeply appreciate it!

Much love and understanding,

Lisa

That is very kind of you. I am in a full blown panic attack at this moment so maybe i'll check in with your opinion if you do not mind haha. My father has his follow up today. it has been 6 months post radiation. So he has done a new bone scan and CT scan. His follow up will be done via phone today in about 2-3 hours from now. I am super nevous

His PSA a few weeks ago was 0.01. Down from 226. Does this typically mean no further progression and the scans should be clean still ? I sure hope so.

I sure hope so! I'm not the medical expert here but a PSA of 0.01 is great! That is routinely my husband's PSA! Since his cancer is metastatic he has been worried it would pop up somewhere else in another form. From what I know the PSA test is the best indicator of ANY cancer growth stemming from prostate cancer. Take a deep breath...there are lots of other folks in this boat. This site is the best place to come for support and Tall Allen is our resident expert! Please report back!!

One of the best things I ever heard was...Are things OK right this minute? 99% of the time, they are! That helped quell my anxiety. And basically we are all careening towards our deaths...some of us just know more than others...I tried to equalize things. A little crazy but it worked for me!
