Blood in urine and clotting 3 weeks after starting Zytiga

After starting Zytiga I noticed a few drops of blood but only after a bowel motion. Yesterday after a big bowel motion I couldn’t pee and headed for hospital though on getting there I suppose my bladder was full enough it forced the clot out while going to the toilet.

I’ve had blockage problems ana year ago after being on 177Lu J591. I noticed in the information leaflet in the Abi packet that bleeding can be a side effect. Today I’m drinking more water and peed after the bowel motion, no blood. I believe the Abiraterone is working as I feel less pain so I would like to stay on it. My oncologist wanted to do PSA after 6 weeks. I haven’t yet contacted her regarding the bleeding. Is there any treatment to stop bleeding? Is more water helpful?

Definitely talk to your MO. You've had a lot of radiation.

I will, my appointment’s next week but I’ll send her an email today. I don’t want to end up in emergency again.

All the radiation I’ve had has been to my right hip nowhere near the bladder so I don’t know if it’s a cause of or contributed to the bleeding, but I don’t know.

I had a problem with blood in my urine clotting, which landed me in the ER not being able to go. They had to put in a catheter to open me back up. This was due mostly from the radiation treatment I received. At the hospital, my urologist had to cauterize the bad spots that were bleeding. I was under anesthesia and It solved the problem for the most part. That was over 5 years ago. This past year I had some blood int the urine again but nothing major. The key is drinking plenty of water. My oncologist has informed me that sometime in the future he wants to put me in a hyperbaric chamber. Pure Oxygen has helped many people in the healing process. I haven't done that yet, but will try it soon if any blood returns. I was diagnosed back in 2013 with stage 4 aggresive prostate cancer with a 9 on the gleason scale, which is CRPC with Metastatic bone cancer. I've had most of the treatments available. I'm will be 62 years old this November.

Thanks, I’ve had the same problems in the past but no bleeding lately until after starting Zytiga. The “plenty of water” seems to work, so far so good, but I’m going through a lot of inconvenience pads
