Starting Zytiga after Xtandi failed

Has anyone had any success going on to Zytiga after Xatandi? I was on Xtandi for 4 months and it did not work from day 1 . Oncologolist wants to try Zytiga now. Concerned they are just wasting time.

I think it's a good idea to alternate hormonals and chemos.

I still haven’t received your newsletter. I know you are very busy; is there a technical issue you are still dealing with?

Thanks for letting me know - I thought it was fixed. Please try putting your email in again.

Ok done thanks

The recent CARD trial showed a significant improvement in PFS with Cabazitaxel instead of switching anti-androgens after one fails.

8 months Vs. 3.7 months progression-free survival for Cabazitaxel Vs. Xtandi or Zytiga after having taken the other.

This is my exact situation and treatment right now. The results of the trial are very reassuring.

Jevtana’s a pussycat with few side effects, for me anyway.

I was relieved when my doctor suggested it for my next treatment after Zytiga stops working instead of going back to Taxotere. I could handle Taxotere again, but from what most say, Jevtana is easier. One plus is that it very rarely causes neuropathy and that's good if you end up doing a lot of cycles.

You do have to watch out for the myelosuppression though, hits the neutrophils hard and it peaks later than Taxotere.

Keep an eye on your temperature. Hope it goes well for you.

After Xtandi failed I tried Zitiga. Xtandi worked for about 18 months but Zitiga for only about 3 months.

I began Xtandi in Dec 2015 when PSA was nearly 4. It worked great bringing my PSA down to .3 or lower until July 2018. after that PSA began rising and in February 2020 it was back to 4.. Switched to Zytiga then which has not helped and PSA is now nearly 7.

For my husband Extandi worked well for years, but Zytiga was only a place keeper until the medical oncologist could talk him into chemo which he had resisted while he was teaching. The chemo brain fog made him retire.

Genetic testing could help determine an effective course of treatment for you.
