Aorto-caval lymph nodes

Has anyone had radiation treatment to the aorto-caval lymph nodes? I have mildly avid nodes there that are not responding to Lupron. My RO wants to treat the entire area, not just spot treat with Cyberknife. He seems confident he can safely treat the area.

Not sure where those are but I was radiated up to the aortic-bifurcation. My MO once said it is the highest he ever radiated, but back pedaled on it right after saying it.

If safe, why not?

The MO implied it wasn't an option last week. But he is the guy who said wait until after Cyberknife to begin Nubequ. It seems the MO is quite conservative. The RO was confident broader radiation wouldn't be a problem and the outcome might be better. The RO made more sense to me since he was driving in his lane of specialty.

I think you are right to put more faith in your RO, because he's the specialist. I've personally known two men who were irradiated all the way up to the para-aortic lymph nodes who had no problems with it.

Can the actual para-aortic lymph nodes be radiated? Thanks.

I had standard fractionated radiation to this area in April/May this year. RO at Mayo felt using a wider field and standard radiation protocol had advantages to cyberknife. Small bowel in field and had some diarrhea otherwise no issue so far.

Yes....I did radiation only...to the entire pelvis including all nodes there. Radiation was a breeze. Anything else let me know. Btw...I am a 5+4....

Appreciate it, but this will be my third radiation rodeo. I didn't see a breeze the first two rounds, but it was bearable.
