Low blood pressure from ADT? After almost 2 years on Orgovyx my blood pressure continues to drop.

I’ve seen reports here where most men on ADT have rises in blood pressure. Mine continues to drop dramatically while exercising and sometimes just walking around the house. But normal blood pressure is 112/80 with a resting rate of 52 and O2 levels at 95 to 97.

It might be unrelated. 87/52 is way too low - are you fainting? Have you talked to a cardiologist?

Yes I faint if hiking more than a mile walking uphill or after 45 minutes of lifting weights. Drinking a double pack of Pedialyte works great so I use it every morning. Cardiologist says CT Angiogram indicates two blockages. He wants to do an Angiogram and possibly two stents. Also put me on Lipotor. Just wondering if ADT could have caused this.

I recently had angiogram/stents - it just took about 15 minutes for the procedure and I was awake the whole time. You will enjoy your exercises more afterwards. It's part of getting older, not ADT.

I have history of hbp and have been on Lisinopril for years... I too, had angioplasty and stent on may 12... Bp has been normal to below ever since without any meds... 🙂

Any chance you are taking flomax (tamsulosin). My RO prescribed it to me and after 5 days my BP while standing dropped to 70/40!

No flomax but I do have heart disease in my family so that’s probably a hereditary issue here

On wich heart /blood pressure medication are you on?

I am on Degarelix and my heart /blood pressure medication is an ACE inhibitor perindopril arginine. It is good against heart failure. It makes a heart easier to pump the blood as it makes your blood vessels more flexible and it is easier for the blood to flow. It is a preferred heart /blood pressure medication in Australia. I was told that by my doctor who prescribed it.

I take Duodart =Tamsulosin/Dutasteride my BP is regularly 103/55 and I get dizzy spells close to fainting . I blame the duo dart. I am 66 and exercise regularly with lingering fat from LUPRON !

Yes, it is the Tamsulosin that lowers BP, not the Dutasteride. I take Tamsulosin to help me pee after having had Brachy and EBRT. I have to be careful doing any physical activity because my BP drops to low levels 80/50 is not uncommon for me. When this occurs, stop straight away and rest and your BP will recover.

Wow I didn't know that. I do weights and the Elliptical in the gym, After only 2 min intervals ( total 6 mins) on elliptical, I stop and measure my heart rate it goes to about 134 which I thought was good as its the fat burning zone . I can't measure my BP in the gym so heaven knows what that is while exercising . Exercise is the only thing that keeps me sane these days, if ordered to stop it would be a huge loss for me. I guess I'll have to mention it to GP next visit. I depend on Duodart in order to Pee, been on it since EBRT over 2 years ago. Damn!

Get yourself a wrist monitor and use it in the gym.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good humor.

If you go for a wrist monitor, they are a lot fussier about positioning than the upper arm monitors with the cuff.

I just ordered one from an outfit called Greater Goods. (On Amazon)

It's approved by the heart association, and has a positioning sensor to help get it right 👍

Amazon's ASIN number is B07GT657XV

From the description:

Thoughtfully Designed: Wrist monitors are more compact and portable—but also more sensitive to proper technique. That’s why we designed our monitor with a built-in Position Assistant that corrects your arm position in real time, and our support team is just a phone call away if you have questions. This wrist monitor makes a great companion to the at-home upper arm monitors in our collection for the times you want to check your pressure on the go.
