We just found out my 86 yr old father's "bladder cancer" biopsy is actually ductal carcinoma. The tumor was on the urethra, and has been bleeding since August 2022. His PSA was 4.2, which was the same psa I had when I was diagnosed. However, I have adenocarcinoma.
With the knowledge of his cancer, does it change the possible dynamics of my cancer if a recurrence ensues? I just read a paper from Precision Oncology-Genomic Characterization of Prostatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Identifies a High Prevalence of DNA Repair Gene Mutations. In this paper it discusses the genomics of PTEN loss and TMPRSS2-ERG found in Ductal PC. I had a FoundationOne of my tumor, and these markers were in my tumor. So my concern-- does my fathers cancer possibly change the way my cancer should be treated? Am I at a higher risk now ? Should I be more concerned for myself? Just pondering, and would appreciate some knowledgeable feedback.
