Pain Associated with PC

Hi everyone,

My father had a consultation yesterday. He's currently encountering pain pretty much all over his body at the moment. His latest scan has shown growth and upon questioning the onc, she responded with 'it's what happens when cancer progresses.' In what terms does cancer cause pain usually? I only know in terms of compression but he had an MRI last year and had recently had a CT and there's been no mention of this? I've asked if he thinks it could be bone pain but he said that it's more in his joints than anything. Many thanks

My husband is in pain all of the time. He trys to work through the pain. He has muscle relaxers and could take other pain medication that was prescribed. He is scheduled for an MRI to rule out a tumor on the spine. There are areas in the body where radiation may be beneficial to help with the pain. I hope your father has relief soon. 🙏

I had pain throughout my body with my bone mets. Bone pain is mentioned, but I think that comes from micro fractures. My pain is in the muscles and joints. I think it’s caused by inflammation of the nerves.

For me, it seems that where there is cancer in the bone in proximity to a nerve, then the muscles that are controlled by the nerve are tight and painful.

I wonder if there are special stretching exercises that could help? Don't have a clue, if my husband reaches this point. . .

I find sitting in a hot tub helps me. I try to do some stretching after the muscles warm up. I find it hard to stretch some muscles because of joint park. The nerves that feed the muscles also feed the joints, and there may also be inflammation of the joints.

Heat helps . An infared sauna melts the pains . Jacuzzi too . A Good heating pad . Yoga and exersize can help . 😔

Joint and muscle pain is most common . I suffered this mucho . I just started a glucosamine chondroiten msm complex which has helped joint pain a lot . Worth a try .

From what I see after six years with APC and also reading these pages for more than four years . PC = PAIN ,some are obvious but many are untold !

I started to notice inflammatory pain when I took a course of radiation. Now that I am in chemo it is continuing. the pain moves around my low back and intercostal muscles, shoulders. I find that the best thing for me is to do VERY gentle swimming. I wear a full face mask which means I do not have to move my neck muscles to get a breath of air. I look pretty st range swimming so slowly but it works for me.

I think you're onto something. It is a form of excercise I really want to take up. Low impact, controlled movement in the water, even some stretching.

I always enjoyed swimming.
