MyGuy went to a new MO, (we just moved and thought we’d find one closer) and he mentioned stopping Erleada in 6 months if scans still look good and PSA is still undetectable. Our understanding was if it’s working, and the side effects are tolerable, you would keep going till something changed. We’re wondering if people are stopping it at two years if scans are clear, or going longer? Thanks in advance for sharing…🙂

How long on Erleada?
IMO too soon. At least 2 years are needed.
If there is no overwhelming medical reason to stop, would you if it’s still working?
The goal is cure. 2 years of abiraterone and 3 years of Lupron were needed when there were positive nodes.

Maybe 2 years of apalutamide is as good, as in this trial:
It depends on whether or not his PCa is metastatic
If there were not distant mets, at least 2 years of ADT plus abiraterone or in this case apalutamide. If there were distant mets, then the treatment should continue until failure.
I have stage 4 cancer and since March 2020 I've been taking Lupron and Erleada without pausing. The last bone scans were clear and I'm continuing the treatment.
Interesting that Zytiga was the favorite until it went generic and became much less expensive. Then suddenly seemed to disappear from medical trials and perhaps prescribed use, while the expensive Erleada and Xtandi seemed to be the drugs used.We knew all along that Zytiga before Xtandi was the prescribed sequence for best results.
So the thinking is that drug companies don't want to have any clinical trials if it generic, and then have trials on the drugs still new and exclusive under patent laws.
Is there any documentation that Erleada is better than Zytiga, or enough better considering the cost difference?
These are all drugs from competing drug companies.
