Creatine (as opposed to Creatinine): Pros & Cons Regarding Prostate Cancer & CD4 T-Cell levels

cesces profile image
17 Replies

Dr. Myers used to prescribe Creatine to his prostate cancer patients and patients who had low CD4 T-Cell levels.

Is anyone here currently taking, or consciously not taking, CD4 T-Cells.

What are your opinions, pro and con, about Creatine?

Any opinions generally about low CD4 T-Cell levels from prostate cancer treatment.

Please note: Creatine is different from Creatinine. The later is often used for muscle building I believe.

I should be taking creatine monohydrate as I am osteoporotic I asked my medical oncologist about taking creatine monohydrate and he was against it believing that creatine monohydrate would rise my DHT levels and that would be dangerous.

If someone could convince me that it will not be dangerous for me I would like to take it.

I have been taking it for many years to boost muscle growth, was approved by my MO along with BCCA's. Have not had any adverse affects, but have had great muscle growth using it and other supplements with my workouts. Not exactly scientific

Are you sure you aren't confusing Creatinine for Creatine.

I believe for former is used to boost muscle grow .

I think Creatine (while related) is taken for entirely different purposes.

creatinine

Creatine is what I take and what is in your heading. Creatinine is used to determine kidney function

Creatine not creatinine, that is correct. One of the few legit and safe training supplements. Good stuff.

I have not looked at this recently, but I do take creatine monohydrate before exercise. Because of occasional ER visits due to hematuria, I know that creatine is a precurser of creatinine and if I have had any creatine recently the ER gets quite excited about finding the creatinine in my blood, but it soon washes out and they calm down.

I have posted about creatine strengthening T cells several times--and rather recently. It is old news.

The Vitamin Shoppe brand powder, not the encapsulated type is fine for any vegans here. I spoke with Vitamin Shoppe corporate.

Just one link--with it's intro below. There will be more info that will show up on your screen.

So how do you use and dose creatine?

What do you use it for?

I mix it in with other powders in a shaker cup or when I make a drink with seeds and nuts which is blended to increase absorption, I add it to the blended drink.

Follow the dosage on the container.

This may not be applicable if you are on androgen deprivation therapy. With no circulating T, then no DHT is formed. After long term ADT, cancer cells develop the ability to synthesize steroids, so it may be relevant then. Has to be researched. Cheers, Phil

I have been adding 4-5 grams to my cereal every morning for the last 4 years or so. I add it primarily to slow muscle loss and perhaps the stimulate/maintain the immune system. I have not had any adverse reactions or consequences. It has helped me maintain my strength and stamina. Cheers, Phil
