I completed 6 cycles of Docetaxel in March 22, I had a CT scan on 1-15-23 and on the 16th my MO requested pre-approval for docetaxel and was approved. I am currently on Lupron and Zometa and wondering if I am jumping to conclusions that there must have been something on my CT scan that prompted the request. Is another 6 cycles of Docetaxel the best route to go if so. I see my MO tomorrow afternoon but can’t quit speculating about what might be going on until then. Thanks for any input or thoughts.

Chemotherapy again?
What's your PSA and ALP doing? If stable or improving they may want to carry on with Docetaxel. I had 10.
How long ago did you have 10? My husband just finished his 10th on Dec 27th, 2022. Bone scan and CT scan this Friday. We are hoping for a break for awhile. What would be an alternative to Chemo. His PSA is stable and did go down from 28 to 20 after 9th session. He was on Xtandi for 15 months then it stopped working. Before he started Xtandi his PSA was 48. Prostate removed March 2018 when PSA was only7 and he was a Gleason 8. Scans March 2020 showed Prostate cancer to the bones on femur an hip. Wondering what next step would be.
I may be trying Chemo next because Erleada & Lupron seem to be failing (PSA 0.1 to 0.6 w/new lesions). MO would like to go Pluvicto (LU177) next, but in the US must fail Chemo first. We have trials going on at St. Louis U. with sensitive & resistant with Pluvicto & my MO really likes the results of 4 of his patients on it. I will meet with him next week based on lastest scan.
Ask your oncologist those questions.
can you pls advise , how many cycle are required and how many days gap should be there in between each chemo cycle of docetexal
Jim’s oncologist said 1 infusion every 3 weeks for 5 infusions. I have no clue what to expect with this and read with great interest the posts regarding BAT therapy. We will be getting scans to see if tumors are growing and zPSA and T keeps rising. Good luck to you!
That's odd, the protocol is usually 6 that was the # in the CHAARTED trial that showed ADT and Chemo gave men 17 more months

My initial MO told me in 2015 that I was diagnosed at the right time as that data was just coming out. But now a de novo castrate sensitive is getting the Triplet Therapy

thank you Doc for the info! I am reading everything, as this will be a new treatment.
I wonder if she just made a mistake in the number of weeks or both of us heard wrong. We will see on our follow up after scans.
The 3 week interval is standard and you gotta run labs (Liver panel, CBC, PSA, T, ALP) at least the day prior, maybe even more depending on how long the lab takes. Fortunately there's a Kaiser office up here and AIS Cancer Center has access to my results
So, if his PCa responds and he does fine with the chemo, maybe see if they can add more.
I think that I told you that Dr. Vora, my 1st MO, asked Tumor Board about what to do with me, who tolerated chemo well, but PSA was still in double digits. He saved my life when he told me "Dr. Kam, I will give you more chemos until you tell me to stop or the #s plateau" Had 15 in 2015, and prostate still lit up like crazy on PSMA from 10/22.
