Started Xtandi and Eligard about 7 weeks ago. Only SE is a metallic taste and 0 libido. Tried taking Xtandi before bed, but no difference. Any suggestions on the metallic taste?

I've been on Xtandi for about 2 months in addition to Prostap (Lupron) since July and have not experienced any metallic taste.

Thanks for responding, I had Covid at about the same time I started Xtandi so I am trying to figure out what is causing the metallic taste. Best of luck to you.

if you are like me, the taste will go away. It will be gradual. I had to force myself to eat as the doctor didn’t want me to lose anymore weight. 6 years and counting now. Sugar is my best friend😀. But in the beginning Gravy and potatoes were the bestthing with some chicken. Everyone is different just don’t give in 🙏🙏🙏

Larry, thanks for sharing your experience and congratulations on six years of success. I had Covid at about the same time as starting Xtandi and Eligard shot, so not sure what is causing metallic taste, but sure don’t like it. Has not effected my appetite.

are you on metformin? It is known to cause a metallic taste and is noted so in the prescription info

Only on Xtandi and first Eligard shot, but had Covid at about the same time. Not sure which is causing the taste, but hope it goes away soon. Thanks for responding.

I've been on Lupron, the other brand of Eligard, for 4.5 years. That seems to be the cause of decreased libido, but it is the foundation of medical therapy for prostate cancer, so stick with it. I have been on Xtandi for 2 years and it continues to be effective for me, fortunately. Fatigue seems to be my biggest problem, and a bit of brain fog (I have not had COVID to blame it on). I have tried Xtandi in the morning and in the evening. Evening seems to be better. I need to nap more than I used to. Exercise seems to help, even something a simple as a vigorous walk for 1/2 hour. I have not experienced the metallic taste so I cannot advise about that. Sorry

I'm pretty sure the therapy (Lupron + Erleada) causes appetite issues and sometimes makes food smell and taste bad but there is no metallic taste.

Steve, Thanks for your comment, maybe the metallic taste is from Covid.

Could be; I didn't have that with Covid but everyone is different. I did a quick Google search:

Never had metallic taste with years of Lupron and Bicalutamide and Darolutamide. One suggestion may be to use plastic forks and spoons to reduce the metallic taste. Some have said that helps. Best to you

I had 13 months worth of Eligard shots and never had any metallic taste. Had the zero libido though, and still do 10 months after stopping shots. Lots of other side effects still present also. Fun times!

cancerfox, thanks for responding, seems like taste is either from Xtandi or Covid.
