Has anyone dealt with a metallic taste in mouth during radiation to prostate bed? Husband is 3/4 of the way through his IMRT pelvic radiation and the last few days the sour metallic taste is ever present plus he’s been nauseous with vomiting occasionally and more fatigue. Anyone experienced this during radiation? It doesn’t seem to be common but wanted to ask here. Sent a portal message to Rad Onc but doubt we will hear back over the weekend. Tall_Allen any thoughts on this?

metallic taste in mouth during pelvic radiation
Nausea, and fatigue is common, I had it. But not mettalic taste.
Not during radiation, but I had a little of that during chemo. I held it almost completely at bay by microdosing with cannabis oil every 8 hours. Just a tiny speck in an empty capsule and a gram of RSO would last me about 12 days, give or take. I just eyeballed it, I don't have a way to make precise measurements that small. It worked MUCH better than anything the doc had to offer for nausea and also took care of that weird metallic taste.
BTW, I've had radiation twice; 36 or so rounds back in 2010 and another 5 rounds a year ago to zap a few lymph nodes.
Terrible. Takes all the appetite away. The good news is it will go away.😊
No but I can see how this could happen if you have old metal fillings. My wedding rings shake around in the MRI
Can’t say I could think about anything besides the balloon up my butt. Taste? Nope. Balloon? Yes.
I get a metallic taste Everytime during PSMA, Choline, Axumin, CT scans. Contrast has been used in all my scans.I've mentioned yup it's in because I get the metallic taste, the nurses say that is from the saline solution used during the process.
I get it when I forget to take my fork out of my mouth.....(sometimes the spoon)....
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
