Could This Toxic Metal Be Our Problem?

To anyone. I am starting to believe one reason the prostate gets cancer is because we absorb toxic metals. I while back, I read an article by Paul Oberdorf that claims the absolute worst thing for the prostate is nickel. Supposedly, the prostate is like a garbage site with bacteria and parasites, and urinary tract bacteria love and feed off of nickel there. For years, I had a nickel-silver trumpet. And nickel is absorbed into our skin from coins, rings, wrist watches, eyeglasses and especially dental fillings!

If the is true, how can we rid ourselves of nickel or the bacteria? Possibly by colloidal silver water? I have heard somewhere that chelation can remove metal from our bodies, I don't know much about it. Anybody familiar with chelation? Maybe it won't matter how many anti-oxidents we take until we get the nickel out first. Could be.

Even if we "get the nickel out," is that something that would help to treat PC, or just help prevent it? They are not always the same!

When I think about all the coulda-woulda, I have to laugh, because I would have shrugged and said why would something like PC ever happen to ME? The right question was, well, why NOT?

Get the lead out , was my problem . With APC we learn anything is possible to go wrong.

I think exactly what you think...WHY me..61yrs old, healthy man, vegetarian, walking 4 miles a day, ideal body weight...No family h/o cancer. So why me ?

After 100s of hours of thinking , my conclusion is that I had chronic prostatitis for 2 or 3 years off and on...and finally some of my normal prostate cells got distorted and disfigured ,becoming Gleason 3+4 and PCa happened. This is most likely explanation about my PCa.

I never felt the "why me syndrome" because from my 50th birthday in 2000 I expected to be diagnosed with cancer before I died, it's just that I didn't expect it to be PCa. Since my latter 20's I remained very active then later actually got to below ideal weight due to IRONMAN Triathlon training, my constant 100+ mile bicycle rides, having to walk my 5K races to marathons due to bone on bone knees, swimming with a shoulder that required replacement for years, healthy diet, no bad vices, resting heart rate in low 30's, NO prostatitis or any urinary issue and still hit the jackpot with GL 5+5.

It's simply happenstance, just like 3 weeks ago yesterday when I was out for a 100 mile bicycle ride minding my own business when at mile 33.5 a 150lb wild hog ran into me resulting in a crash and a cracked scapula, 2 cracked ribs and a punctured lung. I always expected to be hit by a car, NOT a MAMA PIG and I don't even eat pork!!!

A crash and a cracked scapula, 2 cracked ribs and a punctured lung is a good reason to START eating pork... pork derived from a 150lb wild hog who shall remain nameless.

Hey addicted2cycling!

Sorry to hear that. Vitamin C and greens to heal. Curcumin and ibuprofen for pain. A doctor friend once told me that there was a drug named APC. The acronym stood for aspirin, Percocet and caffeine. Caffeine magnifies the effect of the pain killers. A couple cups of black coffee after the painkillers will be very helpful.

Hey noahware!

Good thought! If something causes inflammation it is best to eliminate it both to prevent recurrence or to slow progression and stabilize--there aren't many natural cures once cancer has established itself.

Nickel contributes to enlarged prostate.

If I only had a nickel? Got tested for heavy metals and was high in lead ... I wanted to chelate .My nat dr put me on lipoid acid and prescribed infrared saunas. This is one way to chelate . Our bodies have been bombarded by environmental threats from birth. It’s a miracle anyone lives past 50 .

When I first got diagnosed at 47 my oncologist asked me had I ever worked with acetone and I had for 16 years in my previous job. I then got a new oncologist and I never asked why he asked that question, I was still in a state of shock at the time.

This paper addresses occupational exposure to nickel.

O22-3 Occupational exposure to chromium, nickel and cadmium, and prostate cancer risk and in a population-based case-control study in montreal, canada

Abstract

Metal-related occupations have been associated with prostate cancer (PCa) risk but little data exist on metal exposures per se. We examined the association between lifetime occupational exposure to chromium VI (CrIV), nickel (Ni) and cadmium (Cd) compounds, and PCa risk in a large population-based case-control study.

Methods Cases were 1933 men with histologically-confirmed incident prostate cancer (PCa), aged ≤75 years and diagnosed between 2005 and 2009. Concurrently, 1994 population controls from the same residential area and age distribution were randomly selected from electoral lists. Detailed lifestyle and work histories were collected during in-person interviews. Chemists used job specific information from questionnaires to provide semi-quantitative evaluations of concentration and frequency (% of work-day exposed) of exposure to chemical agents, including toxic metals, and a measure of confidence in the evaluation. Logistic regression was used to estimate odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals for PCa risk associated with exposure to Cr, CrVI, Ni and Cd.

Results Ever exposure to Cr (9%), CrVI (7%), Ni (5%) or Cd (2%) was similar among cases and controls. The risk for non-aggressive PCa (Gleason score < 7 or [3+4]) did not vary according to duration of exposure to any level or to substantial level of Cr, CrVI, Ni or Cd. However, the risk for aggressive PCa (Gleason score > 7 or [4+3]) was significantly increased with ≥25 years of exposure to any level of Cr (OR = 1.68 [1.05–2.69]) or Ni (OR = 2.25 [1.28–3.94]), and to a substantial level of Cr (OR = 2.77 [1.34–5.76]), CrVI (OR = 2.69 [1.28–5.66]) or Ni (OR = 3.80 [1.36–10.57]). The positive associations observed with Cr exposure disappeared when excluding subjects ever exposed to Ni.

Conclusion Our results suggest that long exposure to nickel, or to both nickel and chromium, may increase the risk for aggressive PCa.

Hey CarrotBoy!

There is a fellow that is into colloidal silver, very much so, that shops at my Vitamin Shoppe. He, in the interest of a cure for whatever, has used colloidal silver to the point where he now has a "blue tinge". I didn't ask him how much or how long he has been doing his "colloidal silver thing", I just --looked--at him for a moment--and then politely turned away. Frankly, I was a little bit in awe when I saw him. You can do more harm than good with some things -- be careful.

Doctor's Data in New Jersey does heavy metals testing.

You can buy suppositories that chelate while you are sleeping. DO NOT use more than the recommended dosage or more frequently--DON"T!

You can also find a doctor that will chelate via IV--which I recommend. Don't take any multi vitamin and mineral supps or eat anything with large amounts of metals from the night before as you will want the chelation to be as effective as possible.

By IV vitamin C may be added to the IV bag with the EDTA as well as some B vitamins and maybe some alpha lipoic acid.

You might review the "Tact Study". A group that had had heart attacks and strokes were given 40 chelations. Another similar group got an IV with sterile water I believe. The group that had the chelations had 18% fewer recurrences of heart attack or stroke. 18% was deemed just below the level where chelation would be considered a therapy. A second "Tact Study" may now be concluded.

Be careful about self cures such as colloidal silver and so on. Remember that the "if this much works, more is better" view point can often be harmful--VERY HARMFUL!

So many people have tried to--have found the answer--to cure themselves--there are many success stories--for funeral homes. Find a doctor or doctors that you believe in --who believe in a melding of natural things, new treatments, diet and conventional treatments.

My oncologist who is no slouch, he has conducted studies, told me that over the many years of his career he has had patients that eat this, take this, do this. No one has been cured. All the same, when I became a vegan and numbers lowered and stabilized for me, we had a discussion on Ruth Heidrich. The "Form Follows Function" thing by personal trainers --the small vibrations through the skeletal system from running on ground causes the body to deposit the minerals in bones increasing their density --going a little farther--immunity starts in the bone marrow. It stands to reason that the stimulus from running will also help strengthen the immune system. He said that is very possible. Heidrich cleaned up her diet and was a runner. Before anyone gets too enthusiastic--I don't believe that this will be a "cure" for everyone. We are all different. It might just stabilize someone for a time.

As for heavy metals, I'd be more concerned about lead, cadmium, aluminum, mercury--those.

I didn't have a nickel and silver trumpet. If you get tested for heavy metals a comparison to the nickel result of my testing--<8 is the reference level. My result was 9.7. Now my gadolinium level, gado is used in the contrast solutions for MRIs, was 26X the reference level. I had about 15 chelations and stopped and didn't get retested.

I would advise finding an IV Doc that does this sort of thing.

Oh my, your message was really helpful and was the info that I was looking for. I do not OD on silver, about one teaspoon a week, in water. But glad to hear silver comes in suppositories. I got interested in silver because I heard may be one of the substances that can break down the shell of the cancer cores (maybe even it's T-cells), not sure it is true. While silver is said to help many ailments overall, is only one avenue I'm trying for my PC. Thanks for your info.

HEY!! CarrotBoy!

Colloidal silver to my knowledge does not come in suppositories! Take care using colloidal silver. A little goes a long way and you should use the best if you use it at all. Sovereign Silver is one of the better brands.

Different paragraph! Chelation suppositories that can be purchased contain EDTA as the main agent! Again--I highly recommend finding a reputable doctor that does chelation therapy by IV! Chelation suppositories and colloidal silver are totally different.

Ask yourself this--if colloidal silver cured cancer why isn't that what is used by the premier hospitals and doctors?

Everything in moderation

Be careful of mixing certain things

Only a fool acts as their own lawyer--or maybe doctor--keep an open minded medical support team in place. Not saying you are a fool. We sometimes need help in the form of an objective opinion. There are people on the net that have cures for everything. PLEASE TAKE CARE!

Good information from you! I meant chelation suppositories, not silver. The colloidal silver I take is MesoSilver. They say it has the smallest particles for easy absorbtion.
