Happy holidays all! Age 45, Lupron and Xtandi for 5 months now. SE? Outer leg hair disappearing and facial hair much slower on the grow.

Anyone else?

Thanks.

Started age 45 as well. No leg hair, no underarm hair hardly any pubes. One positive, no body odor.

Thanx man. Merry Christmas sir. I noticed I don't smell anymore. Crazy. How bout your facial hair and top side?

I have to shave daily. I was a bear of a guy - not anymore.

Yes my female friends and wife love it. Often times the topic of conversation while drinking

I have similar SEs being on Orgovyx and Xtandi, leg hair all but gone, significantly slower growing beard, yet no noticeable head hair loss, gratefully... Have noticed also no more sebum excretion overall which accounted for very dry, cracked skin. Daily total submersion in Epsom bath and turning indoor humidity up on furnace to 45% completely remedied that... 😄

Thanks for replying. Years worth of 2-3 weekly Epson and ACV baths. Thats when I noticed the hair in the soup. Outside of legs getting shiny.

I can presume by your hair style that your head hair is sacred to you.... As mine is to me....a generational thing I wear like a badge! 😀

Yeh man. Change sucks. A couple here and there is expected in life, but this shit is going sideways in a sideways world. Crazy times of uncertainty. Merry Christmas

During my previous round of Lupron my pubic and chest hair reduced quite a bit for a while but then recovered after a few months. I’m back on Lupron and this time I’m not noticing anything.

I thought it was chemo...Outer leg of shins hair, but not inner???

I have been on Zolodex for 18mths. My wife reckons I have the smoothest legs ever, lol. No hair under the arms, no chest hair, no hair on my belly and no hair on my shoulders or back. So I grew a beard and now have a ponytail to compensate! Surprisingly, no hair loss on head or face. No point worrying about the SEs of ADT, at least it keeps the beast at bay (hopefully).

I'm pretty much hairless my entire body but I do shave my beard at least three times a week and have a mustache. You want to hear something crazy I have a full head of thick brown hair that I'm constantly getting compliments on for my age of 68 go figure. Never give up Never surrender. Leo

Yes, in today’s world, where body hair is “out”, that’s one unexpected advantage of ADT. I have much less body hair, and I even have more hair in the top of my head. And yes, my body odor is gone. Hey, nothing’s all bad, I guess. 😂

I had the same side effects when I was taking Eligard and Xtandi - very, very fine, slow-growing hair; loss of underarm hair, no underarm sweat or body odor smell. Also, serious cardiovascular issues that resulted in 3 hospitalizations, heart attack and a stent in 9 months.

Needless to say, we changed the treatment plan and I have dropped both Eligard and Xtandi and am now on Orgovyx, which is having the desired result of an undetectable PSA and testosterone below 20. Hair grow, sweat and odor have not returned.

Mecrispy77 profile image
Mecrispy77 in reply tojcarey79

ty sir. I am also experiencing cardiovascular issues. Horrible night sweats.

News flash!!! Lupron sucks every bit of testosterone from your body and basically turns you into a girl. I had the 4 month shot that took 6 months to clear out. Terrible night time hot flashes. My testicles and penis shaft shriveled up to almost non existence. There was no way any type of sex was happening. Thank goodness that today I have the sex drive of a young man. Must of been a rebound kind of effect!

was told I’ll be on Lupron and Xtandi the rest of my life until they quit working. Soaking the bed every night.

Started at age 46. Been on hormones for 11 yrs. Xtandi/Lupron solid 70 months. Very little hair on the bod. Lots of hair on my head though, but very little facial. At this point with all the other SE its a minor inconvenience. One of things Ive noticed, my finger nails are paper thin, cant even open a pop can. Im gonna try that Epsom bath for the dry skin.

ditto...eligard & xtandi here... lost all or most of my body hair except for my arms and my head--torso on down smooth as a baby's butt...68 yrs old...been on this stuff a couple of years...biggest problem (SE) I have from it is what it's done to my BP. I told the Urologist he was gonna kill me with a stroke before the cancer ever got me.

Mecrispy77 profile image
Mecrispy77 in reply tonitefly50

Cardio issues are definitely on my radar. I have not seen my urologist since the radical prostectomy. The oncologist said there was no need to, he thinks he can handle everything and going back to the urologist would be mundane.

Welcome to the club. I still have plenty of grey, no white, hair on my head. Was on ADT for only six months but underarm hair is gone permanently. I was never a hairy guy to begin with -- no chest hair, little hair on forearms (which made me ineligible to be a dentist), or legs. Still shave though.

No body hair. I used to have a very hairy back and am glad that’s gone. It itched badly but my wife had good nails! The bad part is no body odour. Most people would like that but my wife has always loved my smell since we were very young.

in reply togsun

Hey gsun! I have No male pheromones either .,with only 3 T for 8 yrs now ..Prior to pc I thought my self the alpha male .. But now I’m not an attractive male to the the female anymore . I don’t even like myself much .. My body naked looks like a weak 90 yr old scarecrow ..I’m 61 . The wife and I were once mad lovers now more like brother and sister …… it’s like I’m in an untouchable bubble . Losing intimacy and touch is a great loss . Sometime I feel alienated from the world . I hope that you’re doing better than I in that respect . I am convinced that if testosterone didn’t exist in us males there would be no humans ? T is our fuel .. It’s the t that drove me for 50 years ..I would do any to kill pc .. I rode the macho train until it shut down my urology ( pc tumors ) I was so fearful of t feeding my pc that I did the orch . Good luck! 🍀

gsun profile image
gsun in reply to

I'm going to ask about orch but i want to do an ADT holiday first and have one more fling.

in reply togsun

You do you! Most men won’t even think about it! 😳

Hey! crispy ! At least you have that lion like mane! I am male pattern baldness since 35….. I started this at 53 .. My hat goes off To any man under 60 with pc . But 45 ? Holey moley man ,I thought 53 was too young for this. I even read of one young guy at just 16? What a travesty ! Yes, I was a blond kid and never had much body hair . Now That’s turned into a few weird sprigs here and there . No underarm hair or male BO any more either . You are so very young man . I’m sorry about that .. If you can workout and try to slow down the loses we all feel in time you’ll be much better off . I could not do much my first two yrs due to urological complications . So I lost it all, muscle ,bone, cognition ,strength ,stamina . These are all really just side effects of no t. I Did Lupron and another adt until an orchiectomy let me drop the lupron shots 2017 . I was told back then in 2015 “ shots for life “! When I was told T would kill me I said “ off with the juevos . No going back on that one . I’ll never feel t again without injecting it . Stay strong youngster ! 💪

Thank you for your reply sir. I appreciate this place. Happy Holidays to you. I got a therapist, and all I do is bitch about this bullshit. hahahaha..Feels good.

in reply toMecrispy77

That is good crispy! Let it all out .Initially I went to cancer shrink, he wanted me on Kalonapin two weeks then lexipro for two months before he’d talk to me ? I tossed those scripts hating big pharma . Better to a therapist than those close to you . My wife has grown immune to my 8 yrs of bitchin . We with this can relate to each other . Happy holidays amigo! 🤙🏽

Yeh, Big Pharma is govt crap. Ditto on everything. Telehealth therapist and medical marijuana, and way too much coffee gets me through.

in reply toMecrispy77

Hey guy! I grew up with hippy older brothers . I smoked on occasion.it was .never a strong habit for me just smoked as I drank or at a party or concert . With dx I started smoking and eating and even do the high Thc oil home made for 8 yrs . Recently I smoked way too much and triggered some bad asthma .. so now I m on edible and the oil,I don’t ever plan to quit those .. I’ve done majic mushrooms only 3 times since dx but I did ayahuasca twice with great lasting benifits . In fact I did it in Az , a week later I got my first clear report . I dropped my fear of death from pc with my first night of ayeahueasca . That was almost 8 years ago . My Doc gave me 36 months tops ,and 50/50 chance to survive what they did to me .. tubes out of kidneys and a foley then internal stents for a total of two years of hell . No one wants to go there . We must push the pc into a dark corner ,where it belongs . If we let it go ,it will chomp us down for lunch . . The docs ,They don’t know it all! Stay “ extra “ crispy and live with gratitude . I could have been long gone, but I’m still here , mofos. Take care! 🤙🏽😎

Works this way. Testosterone needed for body hair, testosterone has DHT which causes Male pattern baldness. While on hormone treatment for men, the testosterone is cut out so no body hair. But DHT also goes away so hair growth on head reverses male pattern hair loss.

Now how long you've been bald may make a difference in the head hair you get back.

52 here. Started Eligard (3 month) in May 2022. Also on darolutamide now as well.

Prior to ADT, I was always what I considered nicely hairy. Chest, abdomen, pubes, legs. Nothing on my back or buttocks.

I started six rounds of chemo in July and finished at the end of October.

My facial hair is about the same. Head hair is returning post chemo. Chest, abdomen and leg hair is gone. Pubes definitely thinner…nothing at all on my scrotum anymore.

Praying I’ll be able to get off ADT in 3 years as they said is a possibility.

yes minimal body hair no pubic hair but I am getting hair back on the top of my head. I almost have a full head of hair now. A silver lining.

Normal. I've been off ADT for 10 months now and my body hair is still mostly absent except for my chest and pubic area. Compared to the other side effects of ADT, though, the absence of body hair is of little consequence IMO. 🦊

tad4 profile image

I have a question for you. As we all know ADT decimates your sex life. No libido, no hard-ons, no sex. Now that you have been on a ADT vacation, has any of this recovered, or too early to say? I have been on ADT for 18mths, have 2 x 3mthly shots left, then hopefully a ADT vacation, and having the sexual desire return would be a bonus - oh for the good old days, lol.

cancerfox profile image
cancerfox in reply totad4

My testosterone has bounced back to 785 and I have more strength, energy, and mental acuity, but for some reason my libido is still essentially zero so far. My body hair is still mostly missing, my metabolism and appetite haven't returned yet, and my genitals are still diminished. I don't know if it just takes longer for some things to return to their previous condition or if some changes are permanent. I'm hoping some things just take a little longer to bounce back. In fairness, all the radiation I received may be a factor too. 🦊

tad4 profile image
tad4 in reply tocancerfox

Thanks for you reply cancerfox, I am encouraged by how things have improved for you, maybe libido may take some time to return. I see my Urologist in Feb so I will be asking some questions regarding how long does it take to get back to normal once you have been off ADT. My radiation Oncologist told me two years on ADT and it takes another two years to return to normal. How we define normal is in the eyes of the beholder. Stay vigilant and good luck.

I went to pre puberty hair growth with the absence of Testosterone. And I swear that you go back through puberty when it returns! Regrow hair and horny as a school boy! In my case anyway! If only little Jimmy worked better!

i am pretty much hairless except on top of my head as well - i shave my face maybe once every 10 days. i used to have a nice rug on my chest and some pretty extensive armpit hair - all gone. a few pubic hairs still grow down below, they are the only thing that grows down there.

cancerfox profile image

I wish I could get by shaving once every ten days. That's the one thing that I wished would have been affected by ADT, and it was about the only damn thing that wasn't noticeably affected. 🦊
