Lupron and scalp hair growth?

Two months on Lupron and I swear the hair on my scalp is growing thicker, and maybe even filling in places that were really sparse. I was never completely bald, but definitely had that male pattern baldness well on its way.

Am I crazy, or is this possible? Have others noticed same?

Maybe lack of testosterone gives nothing to convert to DHT and attack the hair follicles?

I see growth of facial hair as a side effect for women/children on Lupron.

If this is true, it's one side effect of the drug to be happy about. Maybe I'II stop shaving my head every week now. LOL.

Yes, it's common.

Enjoy the one benefit from your zero T. Glad you have some good experience from treatment.

Yeah, it's ironic. I'm sure chemo will offset this one benefit if/when I start it.

I enjoyed thicker head hair during my 15 or so months on Eligard. Legally I was still bald but it was an ego boost when all else looked grim.

I was told that was possible but I did lose a lot of body hair. I am 70 and was balding slowly so hair growth on my head was not that exciting. In my second year of Lupron. Still weirded out by loss of the hair on my legs and biceps. So it goes.

I agree, it seems that Lupron stops male pattern baldness…

Try getting a prescription of Finasteride from your doctor and buying over the counter Minoxidil. I thought I was destined to be mostly bald up top. After removing testosterone, I got quite a bit of hair back using those 2 things, but it takes 2 - 3 months. Sorry, but it didn't help me much up front.

Eligard did the same thing for me. I'm not on Eligard now, and so the hair on the top of my head is thinning again. Frankly, the increase in head hair wasn't worth it when the other side effects were taken into account.

Absolutely not worth it as a hair treatment, but heck if you have to put up with the rest of the crap of ADT, why not get one temporary good thing out of it? Always looking for something positive here to keep from getting despair.

My onc says Xtandi which I am on as a mono treatment, may be responsible for maintaining the brown color hair I still have. Plus the thickness and growth. All good for the vanity warrior. Something about bulb cells, maybe.
