Just wondering if my hair will grow back after chemo but I will be on zytiga?
Thanks
I have had multiple and different chemo's and only lost my hair during one of them. Yes it grew back although different than it was. Either way, with or without hair just glad to still be here!
I lost everything but my eyelashes and it all came back, actually better. I have more and thicker hair than I did before. I like to think of it as having the world's most expensive rogaine treatment. Preceded by the world's most expensive brazillian....
Fun times!
My bushy black beard that I shaved 2ce daily I now shave every 2 days. Head hair silver not black. Chest and body covered in 5mm white. Arms & legs 1" fluffy white not black. Had 10 cycles Docetaxel and gone at No2 but growing back by No5. No worries.
Lost hair on body...eyebrows and eyelashes too...pubic hair thinned. Head not issue- pattern baldness. (Am 57). Hair came back on chest only...very light texture and light color. Eyebrows and eyelashes barely grew back. Oncologist told me it was because of the lack of DHT due to androgen deprivation (ADT therapy...Lupron...Zytiga...Xtandi...etc)
I haven't had the opportunity, yet, to enjoy the pleasures of chemo. But, I can bitch a little about my hair issue. My torso is just about hairless, no underarm hair, very little pubic hair left, and just a couple of wisps around my nipples. I should say areola's, in the female sense. Half of my leg hair is gone, but my arm hair and head are ok.
This was just from being on Lupron for almost eight years. When it does come time for chemo, the lady who cuts my hair will give me a shave for nothing. I will give her a nice tip.
Joe
Thanks
I was only on eligard for six months and my underarm hair is gone.
I was on Zytiga for 2 years -- no hair loss on head but, like Joe, who replied right above, I lost most of the hair on the rest of my body except a little on the forearms. Also continued to lose muscle mass as I had with Lupron. Some gynocomastia as is often the case with hormonal treatments. Other than that, my experience with Zytiga was wonderful. I am Stage 4 M1b, Gleason Score 9, so I thought it working for 2 years was pretty darn good (previously Lupron had given out after 6 months!). Zytiga works 5 or more years for some men (at least this is what I was told at MD Anderson) but I don't know what prostate cancer stage or Gleason score these men have. Best of luck,
Ed
