My husband was told he only has two treatment options at this point. One is starting Jevtana, but at a lower than normal dose due to his neutrophils being only 1150. The other would be to participate in a clinical trial called BITE in Louisville.
I am afraid I don’t recall what BITE is an acronym for, but the oncologist says the study is the better bet. It is like Provenge where it is tailored to kill the patients cancer, with T cells if I understood correctly.
Unfortunately his oncologist is an asshole, when we tried to ask questions and yelled at my husband that there is no cure (which we already knew) and that my husbands only had months left. Not the best way to get that news. He left my husband in silent tears.
Does anyone here have knowledge of this study? If so, would you agree that it is a better option than Jevtana? He can’t do both. I tried looking for info online and am not finding much. Apparently this is a phase 1 study.

Bispecific T-cell Engager. There are a number of such trials using different versions. A few members have done them. Try this Google search to read their posts:
He is going to try BITE first and shift to Jevtana if he doesn’t qualify or BITE doesn’t help. Apparently it works for 67% of patients. We just found out today he tested positive for Covid, but we think he is past the worst and recovering. What a new year!
I would contact the investigator team for the Louisville BiTE trial to discuss eligibility for him. Could be more of a game changer possibility than what low dose Jevtana could provide.
You could consider to consult at UCSF, or Dana Farber, or Memorial Sloan Kettering,or MD Anderson u other center of excellence. They are aware of the clinical trials for advanced cancer.
There are trials with CAR T Cells at City of Hope in California and with radioisotopes at Columbia in NY etc.
yes I was on a BiTE trial Dec 2021-March 2022. Unfortunately I am among the approximately 50% of men who don’t respond to the drugs. The other 50% can experience an enduring, positive response and even come off of ADT. We may see first results published at ASCO this summer.
If I were you I would try BiTE. You can search clinicaltrials.gov for AMG 160 or AMG 509 and look for a clinic nearest you.
