Got my new Christmas outfit

Lol, was getting an MRI, so had to disrobe. The MRI was so loud, even with their earplugs. Was in the metal tube for 40mins with the IV contrast running thru me.RO will contact me later, have the biopsy in a couple of weeks. Staff Christmas party that PM, maybe I can wear that outfit😂🎄

Why do you need the MRI? I thought that you already had the PSMA PET scan and the SUV max value of the prostate gland was above 80.

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to Seasid

RO gonna biopsy the hot spots to look for actionable mutations. Still gonna do radiation next year, He's saving LU-177 for later

Seasid profile image
Seasid in reply to dockam

If I understand this properly you had the MRI to plan your biopsy?

I am not a doctor but I thought that the biopsy should be MRI guided fou the best result.

My MO said that biopsy would be interesting but no necessary.

I already finished the SBRT of my prostate with MRI Linac. 38 Gy delivered in 5 fractions to my prostate.

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to Seasid

I was assuming it was gonna be an MRI guided biopsy, dunno if it was an insurance issue, as I'm on Kaiser Medicare referred out to AIS (Adventist Health), then to Quest for the MRI. AIS emailed me a while back and told me MRI 1st then biopsy

Seasid profile image
Seasid in reply to dockam

I hope that you will get the MRI guided biopsy.

Seasid profile image
Seasid in reply to Seasid

But maybe biopsy is not even necessary. That is what my MO said to me. I asked him because I knew that they are recommending the prostate biopsy to you.

If you don't need it why would you do it?

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to Seasid

As stated above RO looking for PCa mutations to target

Seasid profile image
Seasid in reply to dockam

You are delaying your treatment.

It is your MO who should order the biopsy and target mutations and not your RO. What your MO thinks about the biopsy?

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to Seasid

MO and RO are both at AIS (Adventist) and I still need Kaiser Medicare okay for radiation

Seasid profile image
Seasid in reply to dockam

The biopsy was approved by your MO?

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to Seasid

They both conferred on it

Seasid profile image
Seasid in reply to dockam

My just said that it is not necessary but would be interesting to know.

fmenninger profile image
fmenninger in reply to dockam

Good idea but it can be difficult to get good dna for actionable mutation

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to fmenninger

Yea, but he still wants to see if maybe something to target. Plus, as still awaiting Kaiser okay for radiation, they took over 2 months for PSMA approval!!

trip to coast went off great with no major ugly issues. Saw a cute viral moment: a lady with her large golden retriever was walking on the beach , the dog romping in the surf off the leash. Nearly in front of me, the dog was playing in the water and a black head popped up ,only about 10’ out in the water. The dog splashed in and swam out to it. It was a young harbor seal. They got nose to nose and the dog licked the seal for a minute or two and the person called the dog out and left. The seal came right out on the beach and started after the dog. The seal was left looking for the dog, …. never saw a seal come up on a sandy beach with people on it before. A really cute viral moment.

cute. Cats set off my security system frequently, usually pooping in my back yard or marking ( peeing on ) my front door. They must like my house. I must be the neighborhood meeting place yayahahahaya. We used to have tiny teacup poodles but can’t have indoor pets for now … we have pebble tec hallways floors. They are granite that lasts forever but are porous and have to be professionally cleaned with a rotating steam machine. Pets marking , peeing or pooping on them would be extremely hard to clean.

I love those big venues …. The immense theater, the “ buzz “ in a big crowd ( like a sports game ) , the expansive sound systems … great.

So….I was calculating.. if you weigh a trim 141 pounds then I’m approximately 2.3 times bigger than you are. Kinda sumo wrestler range yayahahahaya yayahahahaya.

❤️❤️❤️

dockam profile image
dockam in reply to Kaliber

This venue wasn't as big as The Pantages in LA, and Yes the sound quality was excellent. I'm underweight, prolly muscle atrophy from 8 years on ADT.

Did you get Cioppino? Saw Whales?

Kaliber profile image
Kaliber in reply to dockam

I was losing 17lbs a week when DXed … initially I was a fairly average , husky , motorcyclist About 224 lbs. my weight dived rapidly to well under 200when I got sick . After ADT , weight jumped very quickly, …. medical team and esp the hammer were “ very “ happy to see me bulk up. Still are.

The trip was great once again. Had minimal “ issues “ and the resort was wonderful. Driving 3 hours to the coast takes considerable planning for me … I can’t just jump into a vehicle and go anywhere. Being on opiates long term and other stuff, med related, causes issues regulating and managing bodily functions . I always have to “ go “ about every 15-20 minutes and my #2 regularity can be about 7a.m., … 10:30 a.m. … and midnight , but not necessarily limited to those times. There is zero possibility of “ holding it “ at all. It’s immediate. I carry sanitary jugs and a nice camping porta potty in the truck. Invariably, the excitement of going someplace ( even just downtown ) triggers me for both #1and #2.

On the way back I had to stop quickly on the freeway to sit out the porta potty , roadside , but found a great location with great privacy. Stopping for #1 frequently isn’t much of a inconvenience. Ive got everything thought out where I , with hammers help, can set up a private privy very quickly using the suicide truck doors and magnets and a sheet to block and view. It’s another example of my “ work-a-rounds “ adaptations that Ive had to develop to deal with issues related to this disease. I’m not going to let this stupid disease force me to be home bound if I can help it. Yayahahahaya I hope that wasn’t TMI but I thought I’d let you know the troubles I deal with, going out for “ any “ QOL trips ….or even just a drive to Kaiser for an appointment. Remember I’m mobility limited, I can’t simply jump out of a vehicle and go inside someplace. I have to set up a wheeled chair and be pushed into a building and find a place I can get into easily. All that takes a lot of time.

I told you about the cute seal - dog experience, the surf was great, no whales this time but the bird show was dramatic and jaw dropping. About 55f but normal for this time of the year. Of course I had to have the cioppino once again, this time they added crab claws trimmed around to expose the claw meat, a nice touch. This trip was the Christmas present between the hammer and myself.

dockam in reply to Kaliber

Wonderful so glad that you had an early Christmas gift for yourselves, sounds like you both had a grand time. Not TMI, it's your life and I really have to give you High Fives for venturing out with the possible #2 occurrences that randomly surprise you.

Lesser guys would say F it and not go out, but look at the QoL stuff that you accomplished despite all of the myriad of things that you have to plan for and go through with the Hammer. Bless you two 🙏 You are making wonderful memories.

You're Awesome Brother, I'm so happy to know you Brother💙

I've had to do the open two car doors for privacy, but never a #2. When I was hiking up to Whitney, all hikers have to carry wag bag that the Park Service issues. And that wasn't fun to find a secluded spot, spread out the plastic and squat to poop and then wrap it up and take back to the Whitney Portal

mount-whitney.com/hiking_ba...

I have a patient who has a daughter that owns a Motel in Yosemite, the Mom is dealing with cancer, and when she came in a few weeks ago, she said that she's staying up there. I mentioned that I had a PCa Brother up North. She said that I could stay with them, and get a visit in to you, if you wanna. Not til next Spring tho

thank you buddy …. I just do what it takes . Thank goodness for the hammer to help me. I’m not anywhere ready to give up yet.

That’s interesting how they manage Mt. Whitney and thank goodness. All the 1000s of people every year ( and increasing ) … can you imagine what it would be like trailside if they didn’t ..wow … yuck yayahahahaya. I love the portal and the coffee shop. Been there many times, trout fished in the pool at the portal too. We owned several motorhomes over the years, we’ve camped in the national parks, up there , zillions of times . Both Yosemite and Kings Canyon would be considered local for us in Fresno. We just love the forests and mountains. Coastal camped the most tho , Mt Madonna coastal park and Big Sur stunning. Used to be there were turnouts up and down the coastal highway back before they banned it. Drive over on Friday night with the daughters, park and set up waterside, and come back Sunday night. We camped every weekend with the family for nearly two decades. Those were great times.

Roger on a visit big guy … maybe we could make that visit work in the spring … there are a couple ( probably shocking to you ) complication’s that get in the way here, too bizarre to even mention here in public. Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya I really could write a book about all the sideways turns in my life, I’ll bet they would be interesting reading. I believe about anything is possible tho.

Welp I hope your pilgrimage back home is wonderful , you’ll have to take lots of pictures and keep us posted as things go along. Christmas in paradise sounds wonderful, I’m envious . Getting on an airplane, for me, would be a nightmare yayahahahaya it’ll be so good to get back after two years and reconnect, visit the old haunts …. I can’t imagine it happening to a more deserving guy.

Love ya bruddha

Aole Pilikia - No problemo in Hawaiian. Yea, Park service really emphasized take out any trash or wag bags and they had metal containers for the poop bags. They also limit the number on the Trail, you either do a day trip or an overnighter. Either way they wanted you to hang your Trail Pass on the back of your back pack, just for a Ranger to see. I never encountered one tho.

Here is the vid when I summited Whitney in 08/2014, was officially diagnosed in 10/2014 so probs had PCa in me already photos.app.goo.gl/Xdda9qJaP...

Oh, I loved the Big Sur marathon running on the coast hwy, but didn't camp there. As you came across that famous bridge, they had a Concert Pianist playing as you came over the bridge. That's so awesome to be camping every weekend, took my kiddos a few times like to Big Bear and Campland in San Diego.

No worries about any complications and hope that we can work on whatever logistical things that could hamper it. I'm, as you can tell, very easy going. Let it roll off my back, so to speak.

Yea, I used to go home on Memorial weekend, as my Bday is May 29th, and then December, and usually did the HNL marathon whilst there. My bro was concerned that my Mom might not recognize me :-(, But, she'll have 24/7 care, my bro can't handle all of that. He found her unconcious with hypoglycemia and she hit her head on the sink. I juts hope my lil Mom and Pop places are still opened
