Anyone on this forum had prostate cancer treatments that worked in stopping the cancer or worked reducing the cancer from growing? ... also that did not have drastic side effects.???

I did, as have many others who sought treatment while it was still localized. That option is no longer possible for you. Hopefully, you can still manage it for a long time.

Like Allen mine was treated when first found and still small and localized. IGRT fifteen years ago. My urologist says "if it hasn't come back by now, it's not coming back". But he did schedule a follow-up appointment a year in the future.

I had RP in 2002 and then several other treatments. My PSA is 5, there is not evidence of mets and the different treatments (some were SOC other were outside the SOC) managed to control the cancer for 20 years.

well the last part is hard, side effects are just part of killing something that’s growing inside of you. Stage 4 with Mets 8/2016. Taxotere chemo 6 rounds, then Xtandi since. Plus Xgeva And another shot every 28 days. PSA is and has been 0.05 all along now

FLA is used primarily for patients with Gleason 3/3 or 3/4.

Hello there - in your BIO it would perhaps be nice to see your actual diagnosis E.g.

Male 60 -PSA at 41 - Mine in is inoperable prostate cancer stage 4 - Gleason 5+4 = 9 and grade 3b - like mine - it helps us all know just where you are at ! - Obviously it would be nice to have operable cancer and even then sometimes the cancer cells have got into the blood stream and remain dormant and undetectable until they come to life unexpectantly many years down the line ! - The human condition means that having a stroke - walking under a bus - being electrocuted are all possible and I think the life lesson is we are here but for a short time and as my grandfather would say " treat every day as its your last " because one day it will be - I like to really " Live" every day and try to help all and treat all with respect - there are significantly more treatments than there were, but we appear to be approaching a cure stood on the shoulders of previous R & D so to speak, so from somebody with my diagnosis - chin up and run your self meds along with real medicine so to speak and as Tall Allen intimates we might get more than our alloted 5 years ! hope this helps kindest Raoul

Yes. Most likely any treatment is better than no treatment and you have to look at it in a hopeful, positive way or what's the point?

Diagnosis in March 2020 with metastases in my ribs. Started Lupron every 3 months and Erleada every day. No radiation or other therapies. As of Sept 2022, my cancer is in remission. Bone scan shows no metastases, doesn't look like there ever were any.

I feel fine. I take Provigil as needed for fatigue and to help me focus, exercise, and always hope for the best.

Yes. Details in my profile. I am three and a half years in, and QoL is pretty good, considering I didn't really expect to live this long.

I think non traditional treatments are not going to cure you. Side effects, for me, have been minimal and no problems. All side effects have a % of reported. Look those up and you will find a few high but most low. Choose mentally to not have issues.Best wishes for your choices to help.

Me G9 eights year doing well at 74.

I was diagnosed with this in 2011 & have had PSA readings up & down since then being controlled by taking time off from the SE, the worst is the fatigue that comes with it. Naturally the lack of T which our male bodies work on.
