Supply Chain Issues with Pluvicto

Hello everyone. I was in Texas for my quarterly CT and Bone Scans related to the clinical trial that I have been participating in since June 2021.

The CT reflected that my tumors are continuing to grow, albeit at a relatively slow pace (i.e millimeters versus centimeters) given my advanceds stage IV m CRPC.

The trial has defined protocols related fo tumor growth and I was advised that when I return to MD Anderson in January, if they grow at all, my time in the trial will conclude.

We discussed potential alternative treatments and chatted about Pluvicto. My MO stated that he had recently spoken directly with Novartis and they advised that they are experiencing significant supply chain issues resulting in a 6 to 9 month delay in availability.

Has anyone in the US either heard about this situation or if you were approved to receive the Pluvicto radioligand, had first hand experience with treatment availability?

I am trying to determine if this a viable option for me going forward or if I need to explore other clinical trial options.

I believe there are other LU bases treatments other then those using Pluvicto. The ligand is different but some might even be better for various reasons I was hoping for a trial of one of these but it seems to be stalled so starting chemo for now. Here re a couple of links to a trial and to the company that makes a competitor of Pluvicto.

I believe Novartis is referring to the time lag before adding new sites.

My brother’s health system has a signed contract but no date when they will have availability. Novartis is first supplying existing sites.

Perhaps see if you are eligible for any Pluvicto clinical trials that are still recruiting. I suspect priority for delivery of available supplies of the drug will be for existing trials. (I am in such a trial, and my treatment delay earlier this summer was only two weeks.)

if you MO is considering this to follow current trial. Then ask him to order/arrange a PSMA PET scan such as Pylarify. And if possible a FDG (F18-deoxygenated glucose) PET scan. These will show PSMA expressing sites and non-PSMA expressing sites respectively. If favorable for Pluvicto treatments then you can get into the cue at a treatment center.

Try bamfhealth.com/ in Michigan if you're able to travel. I just had my first Pluvicto treatment at BAMFH. You can apply online.

Thank you max00. I am able to travel and Grand Rapids is about 2 hours from my home in mid-Michigan. I will be starting the referral process soon.

You're welcome kklott01 and lucky you! I live in SoCal. Travel is a bit difficult for me, so it's a bit of a trip for me. But it beats flying to Germany! All of the people there are great! Their new, high-speed PSMA scanners that they have only take about a minute to complete vs. about 50 minutes for the two I had in California. They say they're the first of their kind in the world.
