When is PSA considered detectable?

My husband gets his PSA/testosterone checked every two months. RP 7/19 Radiation completed 2/20. 10/21-recurrence PSA .29 1/22-PSA 1.29

Biopsy of Hilar Lymph node tested positive for prostate cancer. 6 month Lupron shot 1/22 PSA has remained <0.04 until yesterday - now 0.08 no less than sign, Testosterone has gone from 20 in August to 129 yesterday

Are these numbers an indication that he is no longer considered non-detectable?

It is definitely detectable, but that is not the issue. The issue is why did he stop using Lupron while he is metastatic?

His urologist gave him the Lupron shot in January. We asked to be referred to a specialist and he is now under the care of Oliver Sartor at Tulane. I’m really not sure why Dr. Sartor did not advise him to stay on the Lupron. We see Dr. Sartor on November 2

To ease your stress, please know that Dr Sartor is very well respected. Can you portal his team and ask about this before the appointment?

Dr. Sartor is my PCa specialist, I’ve been seeing him since 2017 after Snuffy Myers retired. You’re gonna like him, he’s probably one of the best, most knowledgeable PCa docs out there. He’s laid back, easy to talk to, spends ample time with you and always makes sure he answers all your questions. Come prepared with a list of questions, he appreciates that. My next appointment is with him next month. I see him every six months and he coordinates with my local MO since I live in the Atlanta area.

Our first visit with him was in February, and you are right. He does spend a lot of time with his patients. He and my husband talked about farming for 30 minutes! Just curious, do you get a scan every time? Not sure what to expect for this visit. I guess I should email that question to them.

No, I’ve never had a scan or treatment there although it’s available. I prefer to get anything like that back home. My PSA became detectable again about a year ago and hasn’t reached a level that a PSMA scan would make sense, I just recently hit 0.1, I had been undetectable for about 6 years before it began to increase, I was always getting an ultra sensitive PSA test per Snuffy.

Yes, it could be intermittent - usually they say if they are doing that.
